Help with Zubmarine construction

I’m relatively new and decided to choose a zubmarine as my vessel when i became a POSI, but grinding for memories of light is taking a very long time. is there a faster way to get luminosity materials than Unfinished Business in Ladybones Road?

You can convert 50 Tales of Terror into 51 Compromising Documents, which can then be converted into 51 Memories of Light.

You can most commonly find Tales of Terror in Seeking Curios in the Forgotten Quarter.

Alternatively, if you are a intertwined in the affairs of a certain box, you can run a carousel grind to get 35 compromising documents. If you are not, go with the Tales of Terror.

These two methods should be more efficient than directly up-converting luminosity items into Memories of Light.

EDIT: ALTERNATIVELY, if you possess a large quantity of ANY tier 3 item (.50 echoes value), you can convert them in a carousel until you get Memories of Light. You can refer to the &quotCross-Category Item Conversion&quot section of this link: https://fallenlondon.fandom.com/wiki/Memory_of_Light

Thank you! I was getting worried it would take me a whole month just to get all the whirring contraptions, and I haven’t even started on the bejewelled lenses

For Whirring Contraptions you could also do the carousell at Wilmot’s End.
I’m not sure it’s the more efficient grind, but I think it’s worth mentioning.

I would also recommend considering the fate option. Real-world currency could spare you from this tedious grind

IIRC …
Wilmot’s end is 1 WC = 44 actions always (and if you do your drama in WE, you can use the other carousel (business in WE) for The Faithful Functionary which can randomly give a bit of extra?

Buying it is 60e of stuff, but in resources that are difficult to grind at higher efficiency directly (you would need to frind them at at least 60/44=1.36 epa each, after calculating in action costs of any conversions), especially for somebody &quotrelatively new&quot.
(it’s a different matter for someone with access to endgame grinds high above 3 epa - we can just buy the beeswax and upconvert; 60 mol is (60/105)500=285.714 scarabs + (60/105)=0.5714 actions; 300+285.714 scarabs is 585.714(1000/105)=5578.2285 beeswax + 5578.2285/1000=5.857 actions; the total at 3 epa (and bazaar buying beeswax at 2p per 1 wax) is 5578.2285*2/300 + 0.5714 + 5.857 = 43.616 actions, narrowly beating wilmot’s end.

If you have a lot of prisoners honey, sponsoring a trading voyage (at the blind helmsman, under aspiring zee captains) gets you either scarabs or contraptions directly.

With the addition of Parabolan content, you can also grind Whirring Contraptions by hunting the Storm-Bird and searching its cloud. Five actions minimum for a rare-ish success, but the other result gives Bessemer Steel and there’s a low chance of the Miniature Model Ship.

This is of course unrealistic for new PoSIs, but hopefully it’ll be of use to someone!

Nice idea, but the problem is that a new PosI has around 100-120 Dangerous. Even with ~250 Dangerous it isn’t that fun to hunt the Storm-Bird. So I think this grind is suiting better for someone with 200+ Dangerous that wants to use them for running the Press, in stead of a new PosI that gathers the stuff for the ship.

@xKiv thanks for the calculation. It seems like Wilmot’s end is a kinda good grind for new Posi’s.

That’s alternative successes, so let’s say you spend that 10e money + 40e worth of honey and have 50% chance of contraption, but the other 50% is 450 scarabs (at which point you need ~135 more scarabs).
That’s 50% chance of needing extra 13e worth of beeswax and ~13 actions of upconverting them and one action buying the contraption
plus one action sponsoring voyage
plus 10e worth of grind (let’s say 3 actions)
plus 40e worth of honey (do you know better honey grinds than 2 epa?) approx. 20 actions

20+3+1+0.5*(13+1+13/1.3) = 36 # what’s the best beeswax grind? 1.3 epa?

So depending on how bad my assupmptions about the alternate rates and your money/honey grind efficiencies, this can get significantly better than wilmot’s end or direct buy. I probably forgot about something.
