In the Department of Menace Eradication, you can choose to take a Contract: a Miniature Menace.
It costs 3 Fate and eventually provides the Watchful Doll.[/quote]
Holy cow I really wish I had known that even two days ago.
Chalk me up as another one disappointed that there was no in between step between "interview one" and "interview ALL which you can only do with Fate". edited by MadmanAtW on 11/8/2016
I’d wondered if there might be some sort of small group interview for thematically connected pets, but if there had been, it would have been awkward for anyone whose pets didn’t fit any of the groups. So, I’m happy with how things turned out!
I don’t mind the fact the full group thing was semi-fate locked by the watchful doll (you can be given a doll by someone else paying fate at a seasonal event, I understand), as I’m not sure I do consider it ‘all or nothing’. I confess I would have liked to been able to show off my shiny complete set but I wasn’t able to, mainly because my BRD wasn’t high enough. However, showing off my Tigress wasn’t really a ‘second prize’ to me. Getting them was my stated goal from the begging, and I enjoyed effectively bragging about it. Getting the complete set is a desirable and lofty goal, and that’s exactly the sort of thing that Fate is meant for. I guess what I’m trying to say is that Mr. Huffam’s visit felt like a nice flourish to sign off on a goal and we already knew how to achieve those goals; be it getting the full set, getting a particular companion or just getting what you could and highlighting the one you found most interesting.
I do get people being annoyed saying they would have bought the d____d doll, for one thing its a bad way to sell fate and I get the feeling of regret. However, I don’t think I would have handled things much different in FB’s shoes though.
Over all I did enjoy my first Hallowmas, though I would have liked a rewarding little action sink like the fishing at the Harvest. I did feel that the event became a side thing to do rather than my focus, and actually stopped me doing some of the more involving stories in case I missed out on confession. Still, I got my tigress, a free accomplice (now esoteric) and was still able to get my room at The Royal Beth’ on the way. Fairly happy with how it turned out.

I think you summed it all up quite nicely. The only thing I might add, is that if there were a message under the option to enhance the doll it might lead to more people getting it. Something along the lines of "The Watchful Doll is available in Watchmaker’s Hill. Seek it there." This could have led to a marginal amount of fate purchases and given players a heads up. After all, you can’t just look this stuff up on the wiki when it’s fate-locked.
Maybe something for FBG to think about next year. edited by MrBurnside on 11/9/2016
I’m sure the character I’m not sending NORTH will be eager to finish the companion set next time around. No doubt by then they’ll have added something extra. Or brought in some blend of yesteryear’s mechanics and this year’s experiment. Thanks, all.
Oof, I wish I’d known about the fate option to collect a doll. I would have focused on picking up the renown to get the bellringer if I’d known completion was an option. Oh well, though. Hallowmas was more about the destiny for me this year anyway.
Have gone ahead and interviewed THE WHOLE LOT AT ONCE and it turned out just as I had expected - excellent. The quality and the text can be read as the most recent entry.
Edit: Just received the One’s Public card as well, confirming that it offers an option for your previous Hallowmas edition as well as this year’s one! This is the result of having 12 as the quality, dunno if the others are any different. edited by Hotshot Blackburn on 11/9/2016
I’ve been playing on the app. As a result, I neglected the forums and the explanation of first and second week availability. I just kept reading, "good things come to those who wait", in the companion transformation storylets. And, I waited and hoarded confessions.
I thought I’d see something glorious to expend all those confessions on, before the end. So, I waited.
And then, it ended.
I feel deceived and betrayed. How appropriate to the season.
Well played… sob…
And Huffam won’t even interview me if I don’t trade all these juicy confessions away. edited by Fred Cassidy on 11/9/2016
Slowcake’s Amanuensis has come by three out of my last eight draws, whereas I couldn’t for the life of me draw him out when I needed him during Hallowmas. What a perverse fellow.
