Guide to 185 Hearts

[color=rgb(194, 194, 194)] Hi everyone! I’ve noticed that many people are having trouble getting up to 175 hearts. This guide will put you on your way to achieving 185 hearts! I even included my method of making easy echoes.[/color]

[color=#c2c2c2]1: Purchase a Milebreaker from Khans Shadow. Equipping this item will lower your current hearts value by 10, allowing you to raise your hearts by 10 more points before hitting the cap an officer has.[/color]

[color=rgb(194, 194, 194)]2: Get the Genial Magician. You can find him through the &quotA New Recruit!&quot option in Fallen London. Do not complete his quest line.[/color]

[color=rgb(194, 194, 194)]3: Get the Nacreous Outcast officer. He can be found at Port Cecil by winning enough games of chess, choosing the extra move option, making a move, and offering to assist. This officer can increase hearts to 151.[/color]

[color=rgb(194, 194, 194)]4: Get a LOT of secrets. You can purchase these for 999 echoes at Irem, located at the north east corner of the map. [/color]

[color=rgb(194, 194, 194)]5: Make sure you have the Milebreaker equipped. Assign the Genial Magician as engineer. Also make sure you do not have any officers that increase hearts assigned to your crew. They can be present on the ship, just not assigned to any spots. Have your Nacreous outcast boost your hearts to 151.[/color]

[color=rgb(194, 194, 194)]6: Now assign any officers that increase hearts to their appropriate slots. I managed to boost my hearts to 185 by doing this and by removing the Milebreaker.[/color]

[color=rgb(194, 194, 194)]*Hint: How to earn echoes very quickly:[/color]
[color=rgb(194, 194, 194)]1: Purchase a ship with a large hull capacity[/color]
[color=rgb(194, 194, 194)]2: Fill it up with as many mirrorcatch boxes as you can (purchased for 250 each at Khans shadow)[/color]
[color=rgb(194, 194, 194)]3: Sail to The Cumaean Canal and choose the option to visit the surface. Once here, fill your boxes with sunlight. Return below.[/color]
[color=rgb(194, 194, 194)]4: Sail to the Island of Cats and sell your light for ABSURD profits. With a large hull, you can expect to make around 34,000 echoes per trip. That’s right, 34 THOUSAND! *Tip: You can maximize profits by having many Veils.[/color]

That’ll only get you up to about 162 base though. There’s another item I think that can reduce hearts further, though I can’t recall what it was. One of the mascots maybe? After that you need to use the Study items.

Great way to raise stats if you don’t mind &quotgaming&quot the game:

[spoiler] Travel to Wither with your hold mostly full of Supplies because you are going to be camping in the harbor for a while. Dock and Explore Wither. You are looking for the &quotAn Intriguing Smell&quot Event. If you don’t get it, close the Gazetter, undock, stop your engines, and turn off your light to save fuel; Wither is one of the few ports where you will not accrue Terror with your light off while waiting for SAY.

Once you have SAY, redock, and Explore Wither. When you get the &quotAn Intriguing Smell&quot Event, select &quotTry Something Mysterious&quot for a Hearts challenge. You will probably fail often at first, but, if you succeed, you get +2 Iron, Mirrors, and Hearts, so your Hearts will steadily increase allowing your pass this check more often as time goes by. You also get +30 Fragments. Not bad.

Also, there is a chance you will get Salt’s, Storm’s, and, I think, Stone’s Attention when selecting &quotExplore Wither.&quot If you have one or more of these Attentions, and are bored with grinding &quotAn Intriguing Smell&quot you can pop over to Mt. Palmerston and farm a few Lifebergs on the way for supplies. At Palmerston, select &quotExplore the Island&quot you are looking for &quotA Vista,&quot which leads to &quotThe View From Above&quot Event. Undock and wait for SAY if you don’t get it. When you do get the VFA Event, offer a prayer to Salt for +2 Pages and Mirrors, or Storm for +2 Veils and Iron, or Stone for +2 Hearts and Mirrors, depending on whose Attention you have, preferably all. Head back to Wither and repeat.

This method is mostly for increasing your Iron, Mirrors, and Hearts at Wither because going to Mount Palmerston to pray to the gods adds a lot of time, and you will accrue Terror while waiting in Palmerston’s port. Farming Lifebergs for supplies and keeping your light off while waiting in Wither will allow to stay there for a long time because you shouldn’t accumulate much terror. You can get your Iron, Mirrors, and Hearts to 200 - higher if you employ certain items - if you are patient. [/spoiler]

Or just buy a townhouse, go to your study, and craft Shrine to Stone until your hearts are 200. Seems somewhat less hassle.
