Forum game: Ask the character!

Eli: You know, that’s actually an interesting idea. I feel like the University should be diversified a smidge, but that won’t happen while summerset can still veto it.
I would at least like a rival Rubbery Lumps vendor outside my house. Then they could fight over my affections with mind-blowing discounts! silently screams and reaches for a ledger

A question, if I may?
What would you wear to a formal event if you wanted to make a splash?

Frank: dancing shoes, dancemasters gloves,a perfect frock and a top hat.
Rysiek: Got no interest in society. If I meet it,my faded suit and a gun, since I am probably there to question or arrest one of these m____s.
Agata: something Black, unrevealing, since I am mourning Sara.
Maria: I have a nice red skirt with a corset. I would wear that… you meant the royal society, or did you mean the… simpler one?

What do you think will the sixth be?

[li]

Eli: I hear Kyoto is nice this time of year. Pretty sure it’s Spring on the surface, but I might be wrong.

If you could change one thing about this city, without completely uprooting it, what would it be?

Maria: I would be a master, or rather MISTRESS I guess… starts thinking about censored things involving women
Frank: I would close the docks. Look horrible
Agata: I would like to get Sara back… but that wasn’t the question. I would open an institution for firearms and weapons. One that constantly improves and invents them.
Rysiek: I can’t get it up? B___y h__l! I wouldn’t remove criminals, since I would lose my job… and they still would exist. I really miss the sun. I would appreciate it… well, I could use a better communication system.

I heard in germany they created a ‘Automobil’. Do you think such a thing has a future?
[li]

Dirae Erinyes: Automobils? Nah, they are too noisy. Unless they could fly. Now that’s the future; flying automobils!
Evensong: Not that would do as much good, lacking a sky and all that. . .No, I don’t see the automobils in the neath’s future - it’s too crowded down here. For the surface, I cannot say.
Question: Is’ Spring down here!. Presumably. Probably. What are the fashions for Spring this year?

Eli: From what I’ve been picking up, cravats are slowly starting to fall in fashion because of the stifling heat wave that’s due to hit. Going to be plenty of Flash in Veilgarden soon… Sterling Silver is the new trend for jewelry.
Looks over to Maria I’ll get the melting pot, you get the goods? Flowerdene could use some new renovations.

If you needed a vacation and left London for pleasure and not out of necessity, where would you go? Not including the surface, if you can even still get there.

I would pay a visit to some dear friends in the tomb colonies. The area is quite pleasant this time of year.

Would you create a school for rubbery men or make one for clay men? I suppose neither is also a option.

I find this question most insulting. I would happily teach to every single Fallen Londoner with a perchant for knowledge, without taking into account trifle things as ‘species’ or ‘being able to talk English’. If I ever create a school, even bats would be able to enroll, should they choose to!

Would you take part in a comitee looking for ways to ensure better life conditions for urchins?

Yes, but only if I get to solves gridlocks in committee decisions with dueling.Though who would give any sort of power to this committee?
Another question: What does parliament actually do?

[quote=Professor Strix]

Only if I get the Urchins to worship me as their patron deity… I don’t do good things without a reason to, you know.

There are already institutions that take in Clay Men, so that would be a more reasonable start for interspecies learning. Later, of course, Rubbery Men would also become a viable option, but now the only reward for such relentless kindness is a one-way ticket to the Tomb Colonies.

I assume they engage in a never ending series of boisterous, but entirely meaningless political debates, passing bill after bill, pretending to steer thee course of whatever is left of the Empire, while the real political power is in the hands of the Bazaar, who controls all politics by ruthless use of its economic and sometimes physical force.
In other words, they don’t do anything different than they did back on the surface.

Eli: What does parliament do? Have you ever seen an inside out sock? Yeah? Well, yeah. A lot like that.

Would you rather only be able to speak the language of the Correspondence or only be able to read in the language of the Correspondence. Not that such a language exists. -pointedly avoids eye contact-

I’m not sure about the actual MPs, but their clerks keep minutes of the advancing deliberation of the night.

The gift of fiery speech. Reading, in any language, is no longer one of my strong suits.

Speaking of which, if you were given the choice between spending a couple of weeks (on a zee-voyage, perhaps) playing games, would you go for cards, dice or chess?

Eli: If you have many opponents with varying strategies, then chess! If it’s me, a half-dead rubbery man and a rather impertinent beetle hiding in my ship biscuit… probably cards.

What’s that smell?

Has that urchin been drinking my laudanum again?! I swear, if that little bastard touches the bottle, I’ll skin him alive and… descends into furious rambling

On the subject of your laudanum, it appears to be one of the surface vices not heavily changed by the neath. Which leads me to my question: What vices did you leave up (or perhaps bring with you) from the surface?

First of all, I must mention that I use my egregious laudanum stock purely for medical purposes, unlike my dispossessed acquaintance. I do admit to having an… unusually high interest in gambling, especially cards. I have heard some rumours about the Marvellous, and am currently investigating that unusual game.

Ah. Although I don’t much care for material pleasures, I did bring the twin vices of bibliomania and scribomania from the Surface. This is especially problematic when the things you read have a habit of bleeding your eyes and burning your hair, and your written works spontaneously combust.

If you could become personally acquainted with one Master, which would it be?

What do you mean by acquainted? Dirae Erinyes fingers their knives.
