I can rid myself of all the lodgings I naively collected. Thank you, Failbetter.
I don’t know how new this is, but I didn’t see any posts about it. So here you go.

Can’t quite remember: A few days, may be a couple of weeks, but it is fairly new. I have loaned out all but a couple of my properties, as I had accumulated most of the available ones over the years.
Yeah, I think it was part of either a November or December update.
You can loan out all but one of your lodgings (you can’t loan out the one you’re “staying in”). You can also loan out your Transports (velocipede, ratwork velocipede?), so check those cards! Maybe a few other things?
It’s been around about a month, and it is wonderful. I never have to see the abandoned tramp steamer card (or numerous others) ever again!
It was part of the Winter Balance Patch, which went live Dec 3. It contained so many changes all at once, a few things slipped under the community’s collective radar that would have been high-visibility headlines if announced on their own. Lodgings cards, SiC changes, Heists switching to flash-lay deck mechanics, Helicon, Wilmot’s. It’s worth your time to look through the full list.
It’s been part and parcel of the rebalancing patch, released a little less than a month ago. Without a doubt one of the most useful changes…
There are still basically “dead” cards around, but the devs are doing a pretty good job culling/upgrading them, all things considered.
The option to loan out your transports won’t show up until you meet a certain individual at Station VIII who’s collecting them, FYI.
Yep, the transport and lodgings retirements were a logical next step after they gave us the library retirement at the lab… now if they’d just rework the business of lab research itself I’d be rather well satisfied.
You could also rent your Basalt Gymnasium (finally)
Oh yeah, that too. Wonder if they have any plans in the works for the affiliation cards…
