FAQ and Bug Reports!

Hullo, brave zee-captains! I hope you’re all enjoying Sunless Sea! If you haven’t already, you might want to check out the official Sunless Sea FAQ, which includes system requirements, OS/console compatibility, patching and updating instructions, and common queries about how to play and how the game will change in future releases! You might also want to cast your eyes over the development roadmap and the update log.

If you’ve found a bug in the game, the best thing to do is to report it to sunlesssea@failbettergames.com. As the FAQ puts it: &quotIf you’re reporting a crash, black screen or graphics issue, it would really help us out if you could attach your output log.&quot Here is a guide to finding your output log file. Failbetter Games do read these forums and take feedback into account, but reporting bugs via email is the best way to make sure your report is seen and addressed. Happy zailing!

With the release of the delightful Zubmariner expansion, do note that the support address for specifically Zubmariner-related bugs is zubmariner@failbettergames.com - useful information to include when reporting bugs include:

  • the build number, found in the bottom right hand side of the title screen (or just let us know ‘most recent version on Steam’)

  • Your debug output_log.txt file located in your Sunless Sea_data directory (this can be tricky to find if you’re on a Mac - instructions for PC and Mac here http://www.failbettergames.com/output-log/ )

  • as much information about your machine as possible

  • exactly what you were doing in at the time

  • the bug/what happened

  • what you expected to happen instead.
