Fallen London IRC Channel

Fallen London has a dedicated IRC channel. It’s moderated and run by the community, and is one of the best places to get gameplay advice or just talk about Fallen London’s story and setting. I also visit it frequently.

You can access it easily in your browser by clicking here. (If you already have an IRC client, the network is irc.synirc.net and the channel name is #fallenlondon.)

I love the IRC and I hang out there almost every day. Its full of new and old players alike and very active. Spacemarine9 is the channel owner. Its got all the best pro tips (and also my terrible ideas advice if you want it haha). Its just a completely different game experience playing in real time with other players. I definitely recommend it.

I’ve been trying for the past two days to log on. I’m &quotconnecting to server&quot forever. Any ideas about what might be wrong and/or how to fix it?

SOLUTION (maybe). I can’t get on Mibbit either via that link, and just get a connecting thing forever. I changed it to https and it worked immediately, so try this link:

Alternately download an IRC client, for ease of use. (They’re free, don’t worry.)

I personally recommend Trillian, it’s easy to use and super customisable. Icechat is another popular one, and if you’re just looking for something as simple as possible I used Pidgin for years, and that’s about as simple as you can get for a client. (Others may scoff at my use of Pidgin, but honestly it’s darn user-friendly.(

Those are all good alternatives, and whilst I prefer ByrdIRC for convenience (it’s a Chrome app), I’d hate to Pidgin-hole any client (sorry…)

That worked perfectly - thank you!

I have been using mIRC since the problem began but I will look at the other IRC clients folks have recommended.

I tried connecting with Thunderbird as my IRC client. See plenty of people in the channel but it’s totally silent, seeing only admin messages. Are passwords needed–and if so, since this isn’t directly associated with Failbetter but with the Community, how does that work?

EDIT: And now people are talking. Still wondering about names and passwords.

EDIT: Registerd on synirc.net and switched to using Pidgin as my IRC client. Much better.

It says i’m banned from the channel. Why? :={

Are you trying to use a nickname that’s longer than 20 characters?

The IRC doesn’t seem to have any new bans (much smarter people than me say)… Perhaps your nick isn’t allowed, or your IP changed into a previously banned one?
Try a shorter, simpler nick, double check you’re connecting to the right channel and eventually try from a different computer.
