Dang. Was really hoping for a happier conclusion for the Bishop. I’m definitely going back to make more beasts for him in case that actually makes a difference for future stories.
Was really hoping Law hunting and the Furnace were permanent additions like at the end of Grand Clearing Out. They might need to rebalance the rewards though.
Per FBG Staff Law Hunting and the Furnace are in fact permenant additions:
Speaking of which: both the Law Forging and Law Hunting activities will return when Estival eventually closes! (Although it’s safest to assume that any equipment that can be unlocked is exclusive to the event.)
Considering what the founding Law stipulated and the game itself said about the Enclave and the possibility of returning, it definitely seems there’s an intention of following up on this. I can imagine something similar to the Wakeful court Tribute, where you could serve as a liaison and courier between the Enclave’s inhabitants and the outside world, perhaps delivering supplies or smuggling missives and items from parties like Southwark, Milton, the Brazen Brigade devils, Mount Palmerston and who knows what others. Perhaps it might also involve safeguarding and nurturing the Enclave and keeping its founding Law going strong, or even enlarging it and creating amenities.
It seems pretty clear given Milton’s involvement (as well as that of the Furnace-fed devil) that there’s a group among Hell’s devils which has a keen interest in the opportunities the Enclave introduces.
So yeah, seems like a field so rich in possibilities that I can’t imagine FBG just never bringing it up again…
It didn’t occur to me they’d do anything with it going forward, but I love the idea! Having a whole Estival built around it really created a sense of responsibility for the little Enclave in me, so it would be super-motivating to do anything that would help it, and like you say, there’s so many interesting possibilities to work with it. Fingers crossed they have some plans!
With all the personal stakes and considering how many of us here are pretty enthusiastic about the enclave and our involvement, I think it would be a wasted opportunity not to follow up on this one day down the road. And FBG have time and again shown they’re pretty good at listening to their fanbase.
Just the sheer positive response that Southwark, controversial figure as he is, got from so many people on the forums, attests how well they portrayed his all-too-human nature and made him relatable. That’s storytelling gold in itself as far as I’m concerned.
