Equip Highest

You can now speedily don the equipment with the highest bonus you possess for many skills in Fallen London.

This will work for: Dangerous, Shadowy, Watchful, Persuasive, Bizarre, Dreaded, Respectable, advanced skills (A Player of Chess, Artisan of the Red Science, Cthonosophy, Glasswork, Kataleptic Toxicology, Mithridacy, Monstrous Anatomy, Shapeling Arts, Zeefaring), Neathproofed, Insubstantial and Inerrant.

It won’t take account of any downsides items may have, e.g. raising menaces, but hopefully will reduce some of the tribulations around swapping outfits for different checks!

Find Equip Highest on the Possessions tab, when using the ‘Show’ dropdown to filter equipment items.

.. oh wow - times they are changing. thank you for this feature.
now what to to with the four extra outfits I just basically got handed as a present?

Hooooly!!! Now this is damn great, thanks!

For those 2-3 random options around the Neath that make you click too much.

I would keep those and use these feature for those nasty options. Or not if you have extra equipment slots. You would want to equip your main outfit in few clicks (from sidebar) instead of navigating to the professions tab, selecting the bonus and clicking the equip.

Oh damn, this is very much appreciated!

.. true. I realized the same thing shortly after writing here.
anyway, technological progress, yay!!!

OH. MY. GOD.

I just instantly stopped regretting all the money I had to spend on outfit slots. If it in any way contributed to making you finally budge and give out this necessary convenience to everyone for free, it was worth it. (I know it’s counterintuitive. For some reason I imagine you as decent people who realized they’ve earned a lot already from inconveniencing your players on purpose and enough is enough.)

Please add the button to the sidebar too. Please please please. We’ve been so good. It’s Christmas come early already, so that would be like the second coming of Christ. Double Christs. Yeah. That’s what we need.

ETA:

Oh, also, it would be great to have both “Equip Highest” and “Equip Lowest” buttons, at least for the Menace reduction gear. Atm choosing e.g. “Scandal” just disables the button, instead of allowing us to either equip Scandal-increasing or Scandal-reducing items. At least one of those should be available.

Huge change for the best!

Also a big change to what I’ll be using Outfit slots for now. It’s still a few more clicks to use this feature than an Outfit so I’m gonna keep the 4 base-state outfits at least. But Khaganian Intrigue outfit is coming back after 3 years in retirement. And I’m keeping the Zailing outfit specifically because I use the TW hat over the Zeefaring hat.

Honestly one of the big considerations for outfits now is that they affect the Agent interface. Outfits “bookmark” items that I need for myself, so I know which ones Agents can use.

Great addition, it will save so much time.

Sweet! Thanks, that is handy.

This changes everything.

Thank you!

Another jog in the right direction. although I will maintain that for optimal UX this should probably be something like a checkbox on each branch (next to where the “use second chances” checkbox is?), and on by default.
An example is trying to grind Making Waves in the Magistracy court cases, where the optimal thing is to switch outfit basically every two actions (at least for me: chess, mithridacy, and persuasive). With what we have now, that’s either 1) two tab switches and a maximizer request or 2) saved outfit change (which reloads storylet contents) when it could be 3) no extra requests
(I think this could still be useful even if it checked only all stored outfits for the one with maximal success chance, but I have no evidence that this would be noticeable less resource intensive than picking best-in-each-slot)

This is a really nice feature! Thanks for adding this. Just a note though, putting it on the same line as the stat dropdown box has squeezed that box way too small - it can’t fit some stats like “Nightmares” on a single line anymore, and there are both horizontal and vertical scrollbars for the dropdown that makes it very hard to actually pick any stats. I’d appreciate it if the “equip highest” box could be made smaller so there’s more room for that dropdown. Here’s how it looks for me:

This is amazing! Thank you for this!

I’m not sure I’m going to change my outfits, since having the main stats available without switching tabs is too convenient and almost all my outfits are already doing double-duty (except Watchful, which I somehow never manage to find another stat that can be stuck in there without sacrificing too much Watchful. Thanks Ubergoat <_<). But it will save so much fiddling for all the miscellaneous checks!

What a fantastic update.

That occasional opportunity or traveling through the Roof are now just a couple clicks!

(I failed so many checks leaving the Stacks, simply because slapping my Inerrant clothes over my Shadowy-Insubstantial outfit was too much of a bother. But now no more!)

.. after newly logging in to the game, I need to refresh the page once for the „equip highest“ button to appear, otherwise it is still the old interface - anyone else with this phenomenon?
(it might just be the ghost in the machine mocking me)

Sorry to bump this one back again, but I just thought I’d bring up the bug with the dropdown being too narrow on small phone screens. If you could just disable the horizontal scrollbar on that dropdown, I wouldn’t mind the text being cut off, and it would make it much easier for me to pick stats since I wouldn’t have to be fighting with two-way scrolling! Thanks, and still love the feature.
