I’ve become a PoSI and I think its about time I stop grinding my actions away in the rat-fields for rostygold. I would get notability if I knew a somewhat steady way to get Making Waves. Any tips?
Opening a Salon or Orphanage are the best ways to generate a good deal of Making Waves. A lot of item conversions can give some Making Waves, especially but not exclusively Nostalia and Influence. And of course a number of cards.
The first thing to do for the notability grind is to get an outfit with Bizarre, Dreaded, and Respectable as high as possible. That decreases the Making Waves you need. (See: https://fallenlondon.fandom.com/wiki/Bizarre%2C_Dreaded%2C_Respectable_(Guide) )
Opening a Salon or Orphanage lets you build up Scheming, which you can use up for a ‘burst’ of Making Waves when you need it.
The most reliable slow way of getting Making Waves is side-converting half-echo items (see the carousel at the top of https://fallenlondon.fandom.com/wiki/Memory_of_Distant_Shores )
There’s also some other item conversions that give some making waves, and some cards (mainly Lodgings cards but a few others too).

To add on to what Amalgamate said, I highly recommend starting the mid-tier item cycle with Visions of the Surface. There are a handful of options for grinding Prisoner’s Honey that also give MW (ex. discussing philosophy at the Empress’ Court, or trading wine for honey in Veilgarden), converting Romantic Notions also grants MW, and once you get to Visions you’re at the high point of the cycle, as both they and Incendiary Gossip two steps down give MW when converted.
Most options will be costly for you - but this one, reliably gives profit. This is slow though, because it takes a lot of set-up.
