Ealing Station

just got to Ealing. I absolutely love the fact that one of the workers brought up the time I bit Mr. Fires. a lot.

How many times did you manage to do that? I did that 4 times.

I believe I went for seven times. but the quality doesn’t show the number anymore, so I can only guess lol
So… without giving the Duplicator to the butcher, the player can only have Warblers, Somnolent Hyenas and Focused Albatrosses killed, regardless of how much the commercial district has been developed.

That’s a bit disappointing to me. I was eager to see the options to have the other animals slain.

P.S. Nope, no Bats killed there! The Butcher likes bats and gives his attic over to them.
You can also butcher your Deep-zee Catch. Which you shouldn’t, because that seems to be either Retired for Fate-locked.

On a related note, what sort of Laws must be Betrayed for one to obtain Mutersalt these days?

Unless something changes, I think it’s a Fate item available at the Fruits of the Zee festival. Lots of those now fate locked items are getting uses, so something might change.

PSA: Turn the lights down low.

I’m at as bright as it can be. I don’t have a way to get it darker, or at least not yet.

good thing I only chose that option once. I had a couple of them, I had no ideia they were fate-locked.

It’s an opportunity card. You’d think after sinking a thousand echos into developing the place, they’d let me have a light switch or something. But no, I have to throw rocks.

Turns out I can’t do it cause the card has a lock based on which side you choose at the chess board.

Yeap. Man, the player character is going to go through so many mirrors.
That said, take the opportunity to grind a Queen Mate. Furnace Ancona can use it to just give an instant win in any board meeting.

I keep seeing an option on an opportunity card that relies on my having a rubbery appendage; will taking that option reduce my appendage further? If so, is the reward unique enough in some way as to be worth it?

Oh, I’m so indecisive about what to do with Ealing Gardens! The clinic seems like it would be the most socially beneficial use of the station, but the rubbery pie stand seems the most useful for financing future development.

Also, the watchtower options have slightly different descriptions - some say they shed light, while others say they reduce darkness. I assume those are two ways of describing the same change in qualities?

Regarding the Ealing Station space, both Passenger Lounge and the Chapel state they can be used to reduce Nightmares and Scandal, but that was not true for me. Instead, the Chapel only decreased Scandal and the Lounge only decreases Nightmares (none of them very efficiently at that). So it seems to me that unless you absolutely require one of the menace-reducing options for roleplaying reasons, the Rubbery Pie Stand seems by far the most useful option.
At least the cost of refurbishing does not increase from 50 HS.

Does the Watchtower actually do anything beyond decreasing Ealing Darkness? Does it provide any opportunities or actions?

And did anyone try and echo the Contrarian’s Lantern and the Firebird options? I am actually torn between using the Boatman’s Lantern, Monochromatic Lantern and the Firebird, and it seems that unlike the Statue, you can’t change what sort of lighting you install, or can you?

PSA: F. F. Gebrandt’s Tincture of Vigour and Superior Laudanum can no longer be sold. I lost a lot of echoes to learn that.

While you have the Honey-Mazed Bear, there’s a card in Ealing Gardens for those with a Gazebo! It’s a source of Magisterial Lager and can turn Final Breaths into Rumours of the Upper River.

Has anyone taken a Storm-Bird to the butcher to see if you can harvest or duplicate anything from it? I’m going to catch one in the process of finding the Bear, but I’m going to need 500 Scrip to get the Butchery up to max capacity so I won’t likely be able to see every option for a while. There are already two new sets of wings from the butcher already, but the other Parabolan birds can be butchered so maybe there’s an option there.

I tend to keep a spare of most creatures about my person, even the ones that do damage to my opportunity deck. The Wiki is complete with regards to the Parabolan critters, the Labyrithn of Tigers, and the (not-Fate-locked) Whitsun companions. If there are more duplication options, they are either Fate-locked or extremely obscure.

Great, thank you. That’s a good idea about keeping spares of companions around.

As someone with a Bifurcated Owl and a Dream-Hound I can confirm that at least those two don’t open new options for the butcher.
