Does the Oracular Toadbeast Do Anything?

I recently got the Oracular Toadbeast from the animal breeding storyline, and I was just wondering if it gave you any special cards or anything. All it gives me in and of itself is a +6 to shadowy, which is cool, but I have Sister Lydia and a Horrid Imp, both of which give better shadowy. All the other animals give special cards (except the Hound, which is still useful because you can turn it in to the bishop for rewards, and maybe the Owl, which I do not have yet but probably gives you a card. Even if it doesn’t, the BDR boost is excellent), and the Toadbeast is double fate locked (one purchase for breeding animals besides the Hound, one for Flute Street), so its rewards should be extra great, But I got the Toadbeast a day ago and still haven’t found a use for it.

It also has a card, just like the others.

The Owl gives a card, yes. It’s decently profitable and can increase your Scholar level.

The Slavering Dream Hound actually has two cards. One is muuuch better but a bit rarer.

Toadbeast’s card isn’t too great. It disappointed me too.

Love the toad’s card for the comedy aspect. And the, um, regurgitation.

Also worth noting that the Toadbeast is ocular, rather than oracular.

Some say you can read the future in what a Toadbeast regurgitates …

The dream hound should be unlocked alongside your toadbeast, just use a different starting animal.

Try breeding a Plated Seal. There’s four different beasties you can catch and five to breed (because of the Hound of Heaven, which is available without Empyrian Redolence, IIRC). Each of the other four has one (or in the case of the Dream-Hound, two) opportunity card associated with it.

The Hound of Heaven does not, however. Its main purpose is to trade it in for favours and wine. Its only other purpose is a silly one, since by the time you are finishing up the Eater-of-Chains story, you probably haven’t gotten to the point where you can breed one.

The Ocular Toadbeast gives an Extraordinary Implication if you beat the luck roll on “the Eyes” storylet on the card. I forget what the “Tongues” storylet gives.

It hacks up some pets, including lucky weasels, bats, and lizards. Naughty toad.

That’d be too easy.

Ouch. I’d forgotten that, but then I seldom do the &quotTongues&quot and that probably was the reasons.

I’m starting to really doubt the whole “lucky” part of Lucky Weasels. Everything in the game is trying to kill and/or eat them, from songs to tigers to toads.

That’s the point! If Lucky Weasels weren’t so lucky, there wouldn’t be so many of them! All of them would be dead. ;-)

Pop Goes The Weasel! Lucky or Araby!

Does this means the rare bats are in danger?

No, I don’t believe it eats ones you have, it gives you more.

I am VERY protective of my weasels.
Gave up halfway on the plant when I realized it was looking at them funny.

As for the toadbeast, I did not keep it either. You need it to get to the owl eventually, but after that, I think you can safely sell it.

pulling this thread out of mothballs because the toadbeast card just got a new third option to sell to an “innocent curate”. I confess it’s been a hot minute since I got into any beast-breeding shenanigans, so bottom-line it for me, please; including the steps needed to re-acquire a toadbeast, is the third option worth it?
