So I was hoping to acquire a Clockwork Drownie, but my current build – my ship, my spouse, my salon, my tattoos – all mean that even having equipped everything I own that lowers traits, I can’t get below Respectable 4, Bizarre 2, and Dreaded 1. Any suggestions? I’d like to see the content, but I don’t feel like divorcing my spouse or abandoning my salon to do it.
There is advanced endgame content that gives gear to lower BDR stats. Gear definitely exists to lower as much stat as you can have. But you’ll need to know the way to Parabola to be able to access most of it.
Go to Parabola; take weasels and lizards. Hunt and catch a Seven-throated Warbler. Get access to the Dome of Scales and trade the above mentioned creatures to the Fingerkings. The resulting companions are -12 to Bizarre, Dreaded or Respectable.
Or you could just use a Goldfish in the same place to get minus 4 to BD and R.
I have similar problem. My basic Respectable is +6
I see no simple way to reduce all 3 stats to 0 at the same time: most BDR-reducing items are companions and you cannot fit more than one of them into a single slot.
Even with ridiculous hat I cannot get below [0,1,0] BDR
Looks like the best approach is to either get Highwayman’s Cloak or temporarily resign from the club
Both are kind of expensive

I’m having the same problem – though I do chuckle at the fact that even in Fallen London, you still eventually regret those old tattoos. I just wanted to add that another option is to make a skeleton and turn it into a home comfort with the kit bought from the Upper River version of the Bazaar. Depending on which stat you need to lower, this may be cheaper than the cloak or leaving your club. (Also, your salon is an affiliation and you can just unequip that one!)
Edit: I think all of the home comfort options lower one stat by 2 while raising another by 2. I can make this work for me and have all stats within goldfish-range, but this may not work for everybody

The Fingerking-pets worked fine for me. I confess that I hadn’t explored Parabola as much as I should have by now.
