The Sanctum needs 8 taste, and the Royal Beth 7, so you can get both of those just by using pails, although the extra points you get from Mr Sacks cards will be helpful. Assuming you have SotC 10, the simplest method is to use a semiotic monocle on a pail, then dunk a soul in a pail, soul dunk again, and then use the monocle once more to reach 8 taste. That means 8 pails to get both lodgings without using Mr Sacks. Playing the right options on the Sacks cards can get you up to 5 points of extra taste, or up to 12 with fate. So my advice is: use the monocle/dunk method to reach 8, use Mr Sacks to reach 13 (or as high as you can). Then buy the Sanctum, and use buckets to build up taste again. 13-8=5, so with Sacks you’ll need 5 pails total to reach your goal, which you’ll get between the advent calendar & snowfall.

Incidentally you can reach 8 taste with only 3 pails, but only one you have access to the wicket (ie after you’ve finished Mr Sacks). Use the monocle on two buckets (taste 6), then use the ‘wander by the shore option’ which consumes a level of taste, then use the monocle on a third bucket to reach 8.

Actually, as I wrote above, you only need 2 Pails for the first lodging and 2 pails for the second (not including those needed to give to Mr.Sacks in order to receive Taste of Lacre).
Follow the instructions several posts earlier. You need the Monocle, though.

Yep, that’s very true. Giving Sacks a pail isn’t a great use of the card or the bucket, but assuming we get a free point from the advent calendar as per usual you’ll save time/buckets that way. Good catch!

Here’s another trick, once the wicket gate is open. assuming you are at 0, 3 or 6, to get to 8 efficiently.

use buckets to reach six. If you didn’t have nine, Take one of the 1 ToL actions, and use another bucket to hit 8. This is a very nice bucket conservation trick, since it reaches 8 in three actions, where before you’d have needed 4. Of course, this isn’t availible until mr. sacks is gone, which reduces it’s effectiveness a little.

AS far as i remember, some Pails should be available from storylet that appears after Time the Healer comes. When does it happen? Tonight TtH gave nothing, except for 7 cards…

So i used the monocle on the bucket we received from the advent calendar, expecting it to result in ToL - instead, it increased my SoC a bit above 10, but no ToL. I’m wondering if anyone else had this happen? Normally anything that raises my SoC makes for a happy harbourlady, but i’m really shooting to maximize my ToL this year to get the 5 card lodging at the Bazaar or the Beth.

I think ToL doesn’t give you the numeric value, it gives you the title instead. (Example: if this was daring it would just say DAREDEVIL instead of &quotdaring increased to 10&quot) You can go under &quotstory&quot in the myself tab to see the actual value you have. (Or at least you can for PtPt:ToL. If theres a difference between the two)

Yes. I previously had no ToL at all. Then I used the monocle and now I have 3, as seen on my profile.

I have used my monocle on the snow pail from the the yesterday’s pail, was there snowfall today? I didn’t see anything when I checked my lodging.

No one knows for certain, but it seems likely the snow will begin tomorrow, most likely via TTH, although it may have been re-vamped to come for everyone at the same time. Once you have the snowbound quality there will be a storylet at your lodgings where you can chose your route for clearing the snow.
