Just finished my last ride on the “Affair of the Box” carousel! Not only do I now have base 200 shadowy I got enough mourning candles to start my first “Court of the Wakeful Eye” run with 800 tribute!
I got to the end of Ambition: Enigma and the Eggshell Painted in Black…on my alt at least. I’ve tried it with my main account and I have evidence that it should have worked, but it doesn’t seem to given me the quality and the item. I’ve messaged Failbetter about it and should be hearing about them soon.
I needed a lot of help in order to get started, but I was able to get the Eggshell and Ambition: Enigma up to 2 mostly by myself.
I got my Yacht on an alt and only had to gamble twice. I’ve seen some really heartbreaking tales about this on the forum and feel pretty lucky.

I just got an antique constables’ badge from the Jack option on the clay sedan chair, followed by two brass rings Telling Tall Tales with the Salty Fabulist. After picking up a Direful Reflection from the good dream doctor.
I always knew the RNG loved me really…
Could I be a pain and ask for the text too? I didn’t want to wreck my friendship with the Forger while doing SFiG and didn’t learn about the Passion destiny till after. :)

I have finally… FINALLY gotten the majestic pleasure yacht after MONTHS of trying.
I decided to pick my alt back up again today as I had not played with it since before the last feast of the roses.
I haven’t played in months and literally my first card draw had “A Dusty Bookshop”
Granted I have not junk cards on my main like “The Solitary Glim-Sculptor” but why can’t I get this lucky on my main?!

13 September: Became (as a matter of curious formality) an Extraordinary Mind!
16 September: Duelled Feducci. Died once. A few quick, diverting games with the Boatman later, challenged him again; won once. (In what I imagine to be the space between late morning and afternoon.)
21 September: Raised Subtle to Machiavellian. Triumphed in a chess game to which I was not provided the rules. A most engaging exercise; that 26th cipher took me the better part of a lunch. To say nothing of their cryptic message of concession. Overall, an endeavour absolutely worth the sacrifice.
And a delightful Surface-world birthday present!
It’s not much, but my alt escaped New Newgate on a dirigible right after getting locked up with Suspicion 10. Went in with a free 4-card hand, drew the two necessary cards straight away, and not a single action was wasted. She isn’t really getting into the spirit of that whole Seeking thing, is she =)
I only failed to write the Classic Short Story twice, I’ve finally finished this Book Collection, and now I can stop caring how the Short Stories are Just All Over The Place.
It’s not so much lucky, but rather the payoff for way too much grinding, but I recently finally came into possession of each and every single item the Relickers have to offer.
Hadn’t written short stories for quite awhile and then managed to get a Classic on the first go!
