I used to think that Renown 50 wasn’t really meant to be achievable, and that it wasn’t actually possible to get that far. However, the recent PoSI update included options that require Renown 50, so I’ve started thinking about actually going for it.[li]
I’m planning to try and get all factions to 50 as I work towards Paramount Presence. Since I already have to overcap all the stats for that, it won’t be too much additional trouble. Sort of.
Getting Renown to 50 requires higher stats than almost anything else in Fallen London: 294. With overcapped stats, that means I need to get a bonus of 79 for each stat, one by one.
Moods are obviously going to be crucial here, but since they fill the Hat slot they aren’t quite as powerful as they may seem for this.
I’ve run some numbers for my character, and I think it should be barely possible to do this. I might need to change my Profession for some of the stats, but that’s not overly difficult. I welcome input from the community on how to go about this, if anyone has any ideas.
As an FYI, Renown values over 50 are possible but increasingly difficult. 50 was the cap enforced when Connected was converted, but if you happen to be able to hit 300+ in a stat, you can push it higher.
If you haven’t already, you should probably get all of your Renowns to 40 first so that you can get access to a few more best-in-slot items.
Definitely make sure to get the most use out of each of your Moods by saving up 7 Favors with multiple factions at once. If you care about reaching or maintaining your Quirks, you may want to plot that out ahead of time and choose your order carefully. When I get some free time, I intend to map out a Quirk flowchart for the Renown and Polisher actions.
For maxing stats, the gold standard is of course the Guide to Courier’s Footprint for Watchful. I don’t think there are similar guides for other stats yet.
Really? I thought 50 was a hard cap. That’s a bit annoying. At any rate, 50 is the last level with a distinct description, so I’ll settle for that.
Are some of the Renown-increasing options the only pure Quirk increases up to 15? I thought there were other options for all of them.
I don’t particularly care about maxing Quirks, and I prefer to let them change organically unless I need something (looking at you, Ruthless and Silk Scraps). Unless it is impossible to get a certain balance of Quirks without using the Renown-increasing options, I’ll be ignoring that.
