Best way to increase watchful?

My watchful right now is 114. I want to do “A sneering gentleman” and I have everything but watchful 120. Excluding boosting it with items, what is the best and quickest way to get up there? Everything at the university is obviously straightforward right now.
Thanks!

One thing you can do, is buy stat reduction gear (Ridiculous Hat, Bottled Obliviion, Talkative Rat) this will reduce your stats so that hopefully previously straightforward tests, become more difficult.

You can also Examine the graffiti on the wall at Moloch street (in ladybones) this will give a huge time delay watchful boost (multiple levels).

Other than that… i seem to be drawing a blank, besides a few randomly scattered watchful challenges (Velocipede squad, certain Wilmot’s end selections).

That level’s a bit awkward- I believe Hunter’s Keep and Flute Street are the places that are closest to being level-appropriate.

In general, I’ll second the Dream of Other Places (Examine the graffiti). Dying and playing chess with the Boatman is also a good way to boost Watchful if you plan on dying a lot. That challenge is tuned so that you can never make it easier than modest, which means it’s always at least 2 cp/action. It’s also one of the best ways to reduce Wounds if you have a pile of Sudden Insights lying around.

That is what I want to do eventually - get to flute street. But I read somewhere that you have to “complete” the university before you get the card to go there?
And I think I’m going to just reduce my skill level.
Thanks guys!

My Watchful (My highest skill) is currently 123 - 1 = 122 (Gear to boost other abilities currently equipped, i have no played in nearly a year, coming back for Storynexus stuff. If I find a good suggestion I’ll let you know.

Yes. But you’d also need to do so to even see “A sneering gentleman,” right? Or are you still working on the University, and are just looking for a way to raise your stats more quickly so you’re ready for that when you get there? If you’re still working on the University, the Investigating… stage is a good way to accumulate more Sudden Insights then you know what to do with. (It’s how I fueled the Boatman for a while.)

Yup! But I figured that I have to complete that to “complete” the university. I don’t really know, I’m just doing what I think is the relatively right direction and going there haha.

I would recommend you getting a ship and going to Hunter’s Keep. From there you are going to want to make sure that you are either actually in the correct range of Watchfulness or get their via the proper accessories so that your actions are as risky as you can make it without it being almost impossible.

The reason you want to go to Hunter’s Keep is that the ladies that live there are quite skilled at taking care of Wounds and Nightmares. As long as they aren’t too excessive when you leave the island you don’t really need any form of treatment other than them(which makes the Watchfulness increase MUCH more quickly).
