Baroque!

Having stumbled upon an abandoned infernal picnic in the Forgotten Quarter, I picked a Brass Ring. I couldn’t help but notice the description changed: no longer does it provoke Scandal! From now on, wearing it on your finger makes you Baroque![li]

Consistensy is the hobgoblin of small minds indeed!

Now then, what exactly is a Baroque contest? Why does this stat increase when you lose a constest, and is being Baroque good or bad for one’s health, wealth and mental well-being?

Inquiring rattus faber want to know!

Baroque is one of the three stats used in the Underground Leagues of the Game of Knife and Candle: should you wish to join said Leagues, you can head to Watchmakers Hill and purchase entry for a small sum of Whisperer Secrets.
It’s used for Baroque challenges against other players; the victor loses some Baroque and the loser gains some, making it a rather… dynamic stat.

Oh my. I shall just take it off, then, shall I? We wouldn’t want any unfortunate accidents around the place, would we? Considering that I am anything but a Knife-and-Candle gamer.

Much obliged. Much obliged!

Having the Baroque stat doesn’t put you at any risk from being stabbed, mind! You’d need to be a participant in the Underground Leagues for it to pose any danger.
