I’m really glad I can play again.
Considering discerning "how people play": I understand it’s easy to lose contact with that when you’re on the inside, designing instead of playing, which leads to instances like this one. If it helps at all: I think very few people play FL ‘strategically’ or care to see it become artificially difficult. While some might enjoy the challenge, I suspect the majority won’t. What people do keep asking for is quality of life changes (i.e. urchin favors storylet), the continuation of forgotten storylines (the university was a great step in this direction) and more content in general. Another thing that delights us seems to be story customization: years ago you picked this silly quality, or companion, or title, and someone referenced it down the road! Yay! You’re happier now.
I hope beta-testing will help avoid another such instance but please keep in ming beta-testers are usually late-game players, and changes have to take newcomers and mid-game players into account.
I am looking forward to playing and seeing if the new configuration suits me. I admit to some trepidation still, but I’m glad I’m in the minority and goodwill is restored in the forums.
