Dear Alexis Kennedy and the rest of the Failbetter team,
On the storynexus goals page, you posted a planned full integration of Fallen London into the new storynexus platform to utilize its new features. I don't know how the rest of the community feels, but personally I highly prefer the GUI, layout, and all-around setup of Echo Bazaar's platform over the storynexus GUI. If full integration of Fallen London would move it from its current state to one similar to those in the other storynexus games, I feel it would lose some of its flair and flavor. I don't know in certainty if that is even what you meant by your posting, but if it is, the feel and ambiance of the Fifth City, which is one of the integral things that amplify the game far above other choose-your-own types, might lose out.
I’m going to answer this and then close and sticky the thread, because I know a lot of folk (a) are fond of the existing FL UI (b) hate change (c) both, and I don’t want to keep answering this point.

Maintaining two separate UIs with our small tech team takes a crippling amount of time and resource. Writing new content in Fallen London without the range of functionality available to StoryNexus authors takes me much longer. Fallen London needs the StoryNexus functionality, and StoryNexus authors are constantly asking for features currently only available in FL. And StoryNexus is much closer to how we’d want FL to look if we’d had access to a UI developer four years ago.

For these reasons, we’re moving FL across to SN in the medium term: we’ve considered this carefully over months and it’s a done deal. We’ll (obviously!) be giving FL a custom look and feel, not a standard StoryNexus stylesheet, and it’ll keep all the custom art. But the underlying UI will be SN.
