An invitation arrives in a fine, thick envelope with your name in an elegant hand across the front. Upon slicing it open, the invitation emanates darkness from its stark sea-themed decoration. Should your thumb run across the paper, you find it a heavy, expensive paper, and find that rather than ink, the shape is a cut out of an inky black fabric that seems to soak up light.
Within, it says:

The [url=http://fallen-london.livejournal.com/]Fallen London RP community[/url] is hosting an open party even for Halloween and to celebrate the funding of the Sunless Sea! The event is available for anyone looking to dip their toes into the world of EBZ-RP. The post will be put up the day of October 31st, probably midday (central time in the US) and will very likely be active for at least a month. So don't worry if you decide to join in a bit late.
This event will take place on a Livejournal post, and each thread is the interaction between two people at a time. To play, you will need some form of account for Livejournal - but you can log into LJ with any Facebook, Twitter, Google or openID accounts you may already have, so you needn't make a Livejournal specially for this.
