Ambition questions

I have a problem choosing an Ambition for my main. I know you get leaves from Light Fingers, but it wouldn’t fit him from RP. That card game doesn’t fit his stats. All that are left are bag a legend and Nemesis. Nemesis looks like a murder , fitting a detective, while bag a legend would fit the fact he got to the Neath mainly to earn money[li]

First of all, remember this: Light fingers doesn’t finish as a mission to steal a huge diamond, it finishes as research into a pretty nasty plot, which is why it gives you the item- because everything is not what it seems on this mission.

other than that, I would say don’t worry too much about stats- you might specialize in one, but they’re all going to wind up pretty high in the end. (for example, my lowest stat- without equips- is 146. my highest without equips is 200.)

I’ve played Nemesis to the content barrier. The story is dark as Hell and the lore gruesome and fascinating as a slake-moth.

I’ve barely touched Heart’s Desire, but so far the main focus has been a card-playing monkey. So I’m guessing that one is a bit more light-hearted. I’d probably believe Grenem about the stats not mattering too much. When I was in the middle of Nemesis I remember days and days of grinding, but I think the system is more forgiving nowadays.

Nemesis is about a personal quest for vengeance. If your character’s a more opportunistic sort, Bag a Legend really fits better.

I don’t know if you’ve played Sunless Sea? If you have, here are a few more tidbits to help you decide:

[ul][li]In Nemesis you’ll learn more about Red Honey, visit Venderbight and the Iron Republic.[/li][li]Bag a Legend includes detective work as well! You’ll spend some time in the Marshes around London, and with Bohemians and Revolutionaries.[/li][/ul]IMO, Bag a Legend features some of the best writing in FL. Funny, gruesome, heart-wrenching, it’s all there!

Note to self: Create a second Alt character sometime. (Though not until I’ve gone through the other one first. I’m no alt-a-holic. :-p )

It’s not light-hearted, but it’s not too dark, either. We get an ominous shot of the stakes from the T____ _n’s fate, after he played last time. You then have to convince him to play again regardless. There’s some really evil stuff you can do, but mostly? you learn about people and play glorified courier, but there’s not a ton of interpersonal conflict, really. No one tries to kill you, or anything like that.

What a charmed life. I’ve lost count of the murderous attacks in Nemesis, in both directions.
