Hey folks! Just a heads up to say: the game is down, we know, and we’re working on it asap.
We expect it to be down an hour (ish), and it’ll involve a rollback to this morning (UK time). I’ll be crafting an access code once it’s back up to help mitigate any work you’ve done that might have been lost.
Sorry! :(

So that wasn’t deliberate maintenance to add new content, as indicated by the message, but rather some kind of technical problem?

A Return, to the Correct Type of Non-Normality
Following our emergency downtime, all in Fallen London should now have been returned to its proper state, and your progress restored. If you are experiencing lingering problems, however, please don’t hesitate to email us with details at support@failbettergames.com
And an apology access code here, for time lost. Fallen London
If you’re logging on now - it’s going to be a bit slow as the servers spin up with everyone hitting it at once, but this slowness should only last a couple of minutes (and we’re monitoring it).

Thanks for the fish, err… coffee. :D
And may I add, while I have no idea of what the issue was, the little tidbits of text & image in the code were by far the best and most flavorful explanation of an IT issue I have ever seen!
Finally I got to glimpse the workings and failings of the electronical world in an understandable fashion. And now I got it: all computers, servers and smart tech etc. are simply our law furnaces!
