IIRC some people in this thread managed – at any rate, they weren’t able to remember which steps they followed.
Since the recipes are just from trial and error, it seems to me that it’s possible that there’s additional ones that work but just haven’t been documented. After all, once you get one relic, you can’t get any more, and whether you get it on a particular run seems random even if you DO have a valid recipe, so…
.. yeah, makes sense. and I get how people can be frustrated with that, even though I kind of like the vagueness & that it evades an easy analysis ;)
Agreed. The recipes seem to come in pairs, but there’s at least two missing. People should try the recipes in pink from here:
I would absolutely love if people did that, but unless we discover the other unlock condition it’s unfortunately not falsifiable. Someone spends 100 Sous trips digging for a squints Leggy Cherub and comes up empty, does that mean the recipe doesn’t exist? Or they just never got lucky and became Relic-eligible? No way to tell if they wanted their opportunity, and therefore if they should continue wasting time or not.
I really wish I had encountered my Relic while recording hidden values. Could have saved some grief for us all.
Well, will do that if my reserves permit it! I do love to dig into the unknown game limits (like Malefactor limit) and I do need a break from my grinds which just simply using AP.
Sadly, my time is limited and I am far behind with ESs, but at least I can pour hundreds of AP into things like these!
Throwing my human torsos and hands and no new recipe. But it got me thinking: maybe the trigger is the value of all bones donated by the character. Easily tracked by FBG and no randomness involved.
Does anyone remember how fast they got their relic?
.. interesting idea .. I think I got mine after roughly three days of runs but not constant playing. I think I remember that I used saber toothed skulls and human arms, but honestly memory is a fickle beast.
I think I got the angel, first time after discovering there were recipes. At the time, I didn’t realise it was random, so I was just throwing in high expense items to check if there was a high value payout for spending a lot.
It took a good long while to get mine, but I’m pretty sure I got it after throwing inexpensive bones at it.
When recipes were discovered, I had already donated 5 Prismatic Frames (1562.5 €) plus other bones to the Sous.
Then I started hunting actively for the Relic and got it on my second attempt with a valid recipe.
So on one hand my experience is consistent with your hypothesis.
On the other hand, my experience also demonstrates that the value threshold (if it exists) must be really high, since I didn’t get the Relic on my first valid attempt.
Thank you all for your replies! For now, it holds and the threshold must be around 2000 echoes; which isn’t that bad. I’ll see if I can calculate how much I invested and come back with more details.
EDIT: I think I’m around 1000 e donated, but these human arms and torsos aren’t that great. Good thing I have some saber skulls!.. which, with deer, are only 62.9e.
I’m fairly certain I got the relic on one of my first tries using inexpensive bones. I remember thinking I had a bunch of chances because I didn’t care about chucking those particular bones in.
Edit: Found my post on Discord from when I got it: “Got the Relic Bone from the Sous today first try, just chose the bottom path every time between offering bones. Did Mammoth Ribcage and then four Tentacles to get The Wheel.”
