Ok, need some help figuring out the Sous. Wiki info is super sparse so this area might not have been thoroughly dug through yet, so I figured I’d ask here. How does one go about getting the unidentified Sous bone? I know there’s different combos you have to make but it seems like you have to get a bone to do that in the first place and I’m really not picking up anything. Any help appreciated
From what I picked up skimming the discord a couple days ago it’s pretty clear that - we don’t really know yet.
The pinned message in the discord from DanZapman has the recipes for getting the bone, though as far as I have understood from the conversations, not everybody got the bone after putting in one of the recipes.
OK so far for the catacombs I’ve seen the following reported:
The Guillotine, 0 skull 1 ribcage 2 arms 2 legs.
The Cherub, 1 skull 0 ribcage 2 arms 2 legs.
The Gorgon, 1 skull 0 ribcage 4 arms 0 legs.
The Angel, 1 skull 0 ribcage 0 arms 0 legs 4 ‘extra’ bones. No directions known. They all give the same reward- one unidentified thighbone and a new option unlocked at the END of the usual process of identifying a thighbone in your laboratory, which gives you a +3 Dreaded Home Comfort, which is BiS for both Dreaded specifically and BDR specifically.
Huh, neat. I’ll have to go and hunt for that bone later then.
I got mine now after a couple of tries. The first room on the run referenced the Angel which I consequently constructed. The extra storylet at the end had “The Angel” as a prerequisite in addition to the bones given in the recipe from discord. Apparently some rooms add a hidden quality that opens the extra ending if the corresponding recipe was followed.
Late edit: this has been debunked in the meantime.
Wow, I did not pick up on any of this, thank you for mentioning it!
Will go back in for testing. Thanks so much!
Have done a few runs and didn’t get it -_-
I thought I knew what I needed to do - one of the early rooms had an angel, so I made a non-skeleton with one skull and four fin bones (do those count as extra?) but nothing happened at the end.
Trying again, I didn’t see an angel this time so maybe I’ll try something else
Yeah Im stuck there as well. Angel being mentioned and I made the angel but zilch. I wish I knew if the choices in between dropping off bones actually affected anything
After a few more tries, I successfully made a Gorgon per one of the recipes above. No idea what indicates that that was the one to make that run, it was just the one I was making that fit the bones I had (lots of saber toothed skulls and crustacean pincers)
Gah, I’ve tried so many times (mostly Angels and a few Gorgons), even done an Angel on a run where the first room referenced The Angel, no luck. I’m spending a lot of skulls on this, and finding it rather too mysterious to be fun, especially since I wouldn’t have even had an inkling there was any mystery there if it weren’t for this thread. I feel like an in-game hint or two would be fairer and less frustrating.
Finally got it, with the Angel, with no rhyme or reason I can discern. Whew! This is possibly the most baffling and hidden mystery I’ve seen in this game.
I’m not even sure what counts as an “arm”…
Happily, the wiki has a guide to bones that can answer that! The Human Arm, Knotted Humerus, Ivory Humerus, Fossilised Forelimb and Crustacean Pincher all count as arms.
I’m fairly certain it’s exactly what it says on the tin: a rare and elusive opportunity.
Did a half dozen or so runs, one run had the first room mention an angel whereupon I of course built an Angel as mentioned in the recipe above: no success. Next run I went straight to building a Guillotine and behold: the last action let me go deeper and collect the bone.
I managed to get the Guillotine combination a little while ago, though why that run and not any of the three before it trying for that combo, I’ve no idea (I did change up the order of bone donations-- legs then arms then ribcage, the final time-- but who knows if that means anything). And thence to the laboratory to identify it.
But now a question-- can you have more than one Relic? And then more than one of each, or at most one Guillotine, one Angel, etc. So many questions
As far as we know, you can only get one Relic of the Revolution per account.
I made a couple of attemps at the Sous taking note of my choices.
Eventually, being in a hurry IRL, made a noteless run just to spend my actions. And got the Angel. With no idea which rooms I went throught.
I got the room that mentions “Angel” as the first one. That I remember. But I had gotten it in a previous run, and following the Angel recipe didn’t do anything that time.
Edit: The first room was the “embracing” one! No the angel statue.
The wiki has a few more recipes. I’m trying to brute force one right now, but I guess I should pay attention to what the first room is.
Only issue is I don’t have a lot of skulls that fit this week, and no arms at all that do.
I think it’s still unclear if the first room determines whether a recipe works or not? Or do people know that for sure now?
Maybe it’s the whole sequence of rooms, or some intermediate one?
It is completely unknown, but definitely not the first room because I made like 6 angels before the one that worked, which also wasn’t one a run through the angel room. Inspection shows no state is stored about the sequence of rooms.
