Acknowledgeable Achievements and Accoutrements

I’m at 652 as of this writing. But I’m still about 700 mourning candles away from an Overgoat, so that will continue to rise.

Connected: Society has increased to 2330 - Famed!

I didn’t come here just to brag, though. I thought I might wander by this thread and mention that the Steadfast gain on sending people First City Coins doesn’t seem to be capped - just took me from 20 to 21. My friend @ironjawa is collecting the coins as part of his effort towards grinding his way to a bottle of cider, if you were looking for someone appreciative to send them to.

Touched By Fingerwork - 201

Well, someone earlier in this thread had Touched By Fingerwork 46, and I thought I’d set a slightly higher bar.

I’ll see your 201 and raise you 271.
(Haven’t been actively trying, but the big boost at the end of Fidgeting Writer, plus doing that for the Overgoat, yields a lot of points.)

…Lucky you. I calculated I’m still 3864 actions from the prize T.T

Connected: Masters of the Bazaar 14.

So, how high do you think Connected can go, anyhow?

Okay, so let me ask the question: Has anyone (other, perhaps, than the Silver Tree supporters who are entitled to one as a reward) managed to obtain a bottle of Hesperidean Cider?

And if anyone has:

 1. Did you drink it?
 2. If so, what happened when you drank it?

As I’m not likely to gain any more through storylets, I’m now sort of tempted to buy the last two hats :)
Don’t bet on that. If you choose to acquire Casing using the “Decoy” storylet in the Flit, you receive a reward consisting of a random type of goods of a small Echo amount. One of the rewards that I have gotten playing that storylet is 13 Ridiculous Hats, and I’ve gotten it more than once.

How much cash towards cider do you think Nathan would get if he cashed in his connections?

2500 Connected is 123775 change points. If I trade it in at the Palace I could get 120 Greyfields 1882 for about 100 CP, which I can do 1237 times before I run out of Connection. So, the answer is “2968 echoes and change, if I were willing to spend 1000+ actions trading it all in.”

Can we please have Failbetter give Nathan a medal? Or some manner of exclusive Neath cult that prays to him seven times a day? Or a Baronetcy? Can we make the name BE Nathan?

I have acquired an Overgoat, though I gather that’s no longer an exceptionally rare feat. In my case it was months of grinding at Dr Vaughn’s oh-so-useful Encampment: 5 actions at a time, and 1.3 Echoes/action. I’m back in London now, ready to explore some more.

Dr Vaughn… Something about the Light Fingers Ambition? Is it available to people perusing other Ambitions too?

Yes, it’s part of the Light Fingers ambition. I don’t believe it’s available to anyone who hasn’t completed that Ambition as far as it’s currently written (or at least nearly so). For those who are pursuing the Light Fingers ambition, however, I think it’s the best mass-grinding option in the entire game.

Isn’t the Affair of the Box 143 ppa if you’re selling Mourning Candles?

Ah, I should have been clearer. There are indeed options which offer slightly better return per action than the 1.3 I was getting, but the Encampment option runs 5 actions at a time. So it’s not optimal for clock/calendar time, but as far as I know it is optimal for player-interaction time. This factor was somewhat important to me, grinding for an Overgoat over a period of several months.

I gotcha. I figured there was some other factor I wasn’t taking into account. ^^

You’re the 118th out of tens of thousands of players. It’s still a pretty laudable accomplishment.

I am now the Neath’s third Scarlet Saint!
