A Guide to Lacre?

Juniper just recorded that option in her journal. It’s left me wondering whether Silas is a chum of John Huffam’s.

There are tears for things, and mortal things touch the stars.

Seven or eight point gain from the docks fate option today?

Hmm. I currently have 10 points of Taste of Lacre and 5 buckets of the stuff I’ve been hoarding. I also have all of the lodgings already and 5 dreadful surmises. I’m hoping the wicket will have some surprises for us this year or I’m not sure what to do with it besides feed a noman.

You could always go for tears of the Bazaar if you visit the Nadir with a little luck.

I’d like to take a moment to ask for your well wishes. Because, if I am lucky, I can nab a Spire Emporium and a Brass Sanctum tomorrow. I’ve got 10 Taste and 3 Buckets, so If I get an Emporium that’ll leave me with 1 Taste, then I can soul - Monocole - Monocole to bring me up to eight, and then I can nab that delicious Sanctum. Only my Scholar Quality is only 7, so there’s a 30% chance that I can fail… And I’ve failed 98% success rates…

Oh RNG, take this goat in sacrifice. But please don’t take my Sanctum.

A few questions: can you go into the Wicket before you’ve finished the Sackses? Can you enter and leave at will without damaging your Taste? And is there a good reference somewhere for last year’s prices?

Here’s the wiki page for where the Wicket takes you last year: http://fallenlondon.wikia.com/wiki/A_Sundered_Sea

The prices were:

— 5 Card Lodgings —
Spire Emporium ::: 9 Taste
Brass Sanctum ::: 8 Taste + YOUR VERY OWN INFERNAL CONTRACT
Royal Bethlehem Suite ::: 7 Taste
All 5 Card lodgings cost 3 Notability.

There are three three card lodgings that cost 3 Taste.

You can buy a Noman for 15 Taste plus 1 Skyglass Knife, 1 warm Amber, 3 Hard Earned Lessons, 3 Sudden Insights, 3 Melancholy, 3 Hedonist, 3 Magnaminous, 3 Forceful.
EDIT: Apparently the initial price of the Noman is different than what is listed in the wiki. We shall find out tomorrow.

You finish up your What’s the Angle? stories for 5 Taste

You can search the Shore for 1 Taste which gets you some random goodies.

Worth noting; that’s the final price, right at the very end of January! At first, they cost 3 Taste (and a deep, not warm, amber). Or, well, they did last year; it may be different this year, but probably not 15.
Also; the 5-card lodgings cost 3 Notability as well as the Taste of Lacre

Thanks for the corrections and addition Spacemarine

I have taste at 9 and 9 spare buckets, and i’m not sure if I should help Mr.Sacks or take his stuff. Thoughts?

If you want connected Masters I would help him but if you are after Lacre take his stuff, but you will get a small Masters loss.

What is connected masters for if not blowing on otherwise impossible to get things? 1CP of connection is very worth it for +1 lacre and a pail (and some other junk).

If you really want to side with the masters you can always get back on their good side by grinding books for the rest of the year…

Unless your Masters connection is 11+, in which case you’d have to wait almost a year to make it back. Though that scenario doesn’t apply to very many people, so for the most part you’re right.
What is connected masters for if not blowing on otherwise impossible to get things? 1CP of connection is very worth it for +1 lacre and a pail (and some other junk).
I concur, but before doing that I’ll have to visit the Functionary’s mother, assuming that I have managed to get my connection to 5 before then. Otherwise I’ll need the points one gets for being helpful. And who knows? Perhaps next time one needs the Masters connection for a story, the required level will be higher still? For being so hard to get, that connection seems remarkably useless.

Nothing you get from robbing Sacks is unique, and in terms of action cost +1 Masters is probably more expensive than those items, so I would not recommend it. But ultimately it’s up to you whether to spend the connection or horde it.

When should the Wicket open? Was it on the 6th?

It’s actually +3 Masters, so it’s a really nice option if you’re not in desperate need of lacre.

I believe it opened on the 6th, yes. I’ll be surprised if the Wicket doesn’t at least show itself tomorrow.

So…I’m stuck at 8 Taste of Lacre. There’s no way for me to get a Dreadful Surmise at the moment, and I’ve done all 12 Days of Mr Sacks. I have three spare pales of lacre (I messed up and didn’t use all the pales before going through the 12 days. Is there any way to get that last point of Taste before the Wicket closes? I was all set to get a Spire Emporium, so I really hope I’m not out of luck for a year. :(

There is a way, but it’s expensive. You can warm up a tear of the bazaar, which will give taste up to 10 (according to the wiki), but has a 20% chance of costing you that tear. You should have the time needed to farm a tear between now and when the wicket closes, I think, with a little luck.

Penstock’s opened his little wicket-gate! …wait, that sounds filthy. True, though.

So does anyone know what the sooth and cooper long box does yet?
