After a lot of grinding, I am now on the verge of being able to buy a piece of high-end equipment from the Bazaar. However, as an incurable minmaxer, I am torn. Consider the Parabola-Linen Suit. It has a Persuasive bonus of +8 and a Shadowy bonus of +4. (The Respectable bonus doesn’t matter, as my present outfit already has that.) At the same time, the Presumtuous Dandy’s Outfit offers no Shadowy bonus, but has a Persuasive bonus of +10. So please tell me - which one of these is actually better? I already have the Ratskin Suit, which beats the aforementioned Shadowy bonus. However, I heard that the Parabola-Linen Suit, despite being "worse" stat-wise, can be somehow transformed in the Cave of the Nadir (which I am yet to visit). Is it worth buying over the Presumptuous Dandy’s Outfit for the transformation?
So, if tl;dr - Presumtuous Dandy’s Outfit or Parabola-Linen Suit?
Long story short: the upgraded Linen suit still isn’t as Persuasive as the Dandy’s Outfit or as Shadowy as the Ratskin.
Also, if you intend to specialise in Persuasive when you max your stats, you’ll need an (un-upgraded) Parabola-Linen outfit of some kind.
If you want to specialise in Persuasive, buy the Parabola-Linen and don’t upgrade it just yet. If you want max stats and don’t mind the small Dangerous penalty, stick with the Dandy’s Outfit. Speaking as a fellow incurable min-maxer, and given how little difference 1 shadowy/2 persuasive makes in the grand scheme of things, and also how useful it is to not have to swap clothes…I’d go with the Parabola linen + upgrade.
It is however somewhat brightly (irrigo?) coloured, though I quite like it:

1 shadowy/2 persuasive can make quite a bit of difference, sometimes. Sure, when every stat is at cap it doesn’t, but prior to that point… it makes a lot of difference, and more if every inventory item has that kind of difference, and not a bigger one. and if you’re changing one equip, you might as well change all six. if each has that kind of cross-stat difference, it’s +6/+12 depending. edited by Grenem on 9/15/2015
