Has anyone completed the
Legend's heart portion of the fathomking's requests? While he suggested Mt Nomad or Tree of Ages, Mt Nomad isn't showing up at all around Chapel of Lights in the new game I started for this (even though it's present in an older game), and I completed the savior's rock storyline with no choice for fighting tree of ages either. Is it likely that Mt Nomad has moved away, or has tree of ages been added somewhere else? I'm out of ideas for what might be needed, and neither the ray drenched cinder or the uttershroom sproule were acceptable either.
edited by fortluna on 1/7/2015

Well, not quite for free. The materials required for the various interactions total 1250 echoes in value, not counting the cost of fuel and supplies for traveling to the various places. There's at least one cross-map-ish trip required, which is about 400 echoes' worth of fuel and supplies at minimum if you don't want to live on the edge, as it were, which brings it up to 1650 echoes' worth of effort.

Err, coming back to Mt Nomad for a second - I seem to have 2. So apologies to anyone who doesn't have one at all. They're mobbing me (one is lurking at the Avid Horizon and the other is in the East near the Chelonate - I sailed from one more or less direct to the other, so I'm fairly sure it's not just racing me for shrieks and giggles).

I've found the father's bones with every starting history, so I can confirm that each one gives a different questline, with the fathomking as the constant. I think that Visage has been fixed now, but if you weren't a natural philosopher and still have an older build, definitely don't click the option at Visage, or you'll find yourself with someone else's fate. With Mt Nomad, the question isn't covering the entirety of the tile, or crossing its border and coming back in. When it's possible to have a save where it's visible from Chapel of Lights' dock eight out of eight times and another where it never comes out at any time from time the healer 1-200, it's - a little disheartening. In one game just now I only finished looting Nomad when another one appeared, while spending ten minutes circling Aestival and void's approach netted nothing. But hey, there's probably an alternate way for a willing guest now! (whooo) And Vienna sounds unreal.

Okay, let's get a master-list going, shall we?
BRING ME....
THE HEART OF A LEGEND known options: -Mt Nomad (works, with major downside) -Tree of Ages (?)
A LIGHT FROM THE SKY known options: -Sunlight -?
A WILLING GUEST, TO STAY WITH ME FOREVER known options: -Nacreous Outcast (?)/Survivor -Bandaged Chef-Paramount (?)
WITNESS OF AN ELDEST'S END known options: -the First Curator -the Principles
THE FRUIT OF AN ETERNAL TREE known options: -from Irem -from the Uttershroom
A MIRACLE OF TECHNOLOGY known options: -The Serpentine -Memento Mori -Fulgent Impeller
--------------
A few further spoilers, to discuss a few things discussed earlier in this thread that are outdated / wrong.
ETERNAL FRUIT -Solacefruit are not from an eternal tree. -As is usually the case, getting something from Irem tends to be fast but expensive, and getting things from the Uttershroom is relatively cheap but takes a lot of zailing. -Blemmigans are NOT the fruit of the Uttershroom. Nor is a Ray-Drenched Cinder. Something else, however, is. -The Uttershroom is NOT the only source of Cosmogone. However, the other source will take a lot of monkey business. -With proper propagation, you can get a second reward from the Uttershroom. Not sure about a third.
A MIRACLE OF TECHNOLOGY -The Fulgent Impeller can now be built without selling the Memento Mori to a very specific buyer. It's still bloody expensive, though. -A captain who had the Memento Mori can pass it on via the Rival legacy - even if they'd sold or otherwise gotten rid of it before retiring. This also means that a captain who inherits a Memento Mori can build a second, and use the spare here or sell it. -Under certain circumstances, you CAN re-buy the Serpentine.
Couple questions, too!
-Can anyone actually confirm that they have fought and killed the Tree of Ages, got a 'heart' from it, and used it for the Heart of a Legend? Or is this just speculated? Personally, I've never had a chance to fight the bloody thing.
(mild spoilers for officer quests) -Are there any other officers who'd willingly go to the Fathomking - say, one who wants to die or retire to exile? I'll work on checking that myself, but in the meantime, can anyone confirm/deny?
