Delicious and festive friends! We have just released new content: a story called the Gift, available for 30 Nex.

What is this mysterious parcel, sitting so flirtatiously on your doorstep? What is inside? Who is it from? By all means open it, but be careful where your curiosity leads you.

The Gift is a tale of terror, aberration, and the horrors beneath the Palace. Meet the troubled Mr. Hathhorn. Undertake a nightmarish, chthonic journey. And - for the first time - learn the secrets of the Empress' progeny.

To begin the story, look for a storylet available throughout London called "The Gift". It'll remain there throughout the festive season, then we'll move it to the Nex page. We'll also be adding A Trade in Faces to the Nex page, too, for those who missed it or would like to replay it.

Yes - it can affect, in a minor way, one encounter you can have during your journey. The Gift was a direct response to forum-goers asking for more about that story. So keep talking about the things you like and want to see more of! We're always listening.

Er. Not in a sinister way. In a good way.

The Gift was fantastic! I played it through with two different characters and have basically been doing cartwheels all day. Metaphorical ones, you understand. Metaphorical mind cartwheels.

To turn or not to turn, that is the question
Whether 'tis nobler to bear the weight of knowing
Or resist that which tempts me
And in resisting, accept an ignorant life
Should I not pay the cost
So that others may live happier?
Or in so doing do I serve only my own weakness?
No. 'Tis not weakness to face the frightening
There is no frailty in seeking answers
Ignorance is the slow death of fools
I shall turn and face the truth
I shall not be...

Ah, well, quite... Though perhaps such things are better not spoken of too much. Or in public.
I'm intrigued about this "New Sequence" and what it means... and if it ties in at all with (or against) the Presbyrate intrigues with the admiralty. Sadly I did not make an acquaintance of the Captivating Princess in years past, and I suspect I'm missing some content there.

And the bit about the Bazaar's daughter was new to me... The Mountain... Revelation and true immortality? The implications are as staggering as they are mindboggling!
I'm having a bunch of fun just running up and down the tunnels seeing if there are any options I hadn't run across. I think I got everything, but no harm in checking.

"The Gift" was beautifully written, wonderfully moving and deeply scary. If this wasn't the best 30 Nex I ever spent, it was close to being so. NiteBrite; thanks for your Journal posts; they have helped me deduce what the road I did not take must have looked like. Check out the profile for my main (cathyr19355) to see the path I took through the story.

The Gift is a fantastic and horrific story, I give it 8/10, just because I was not familiar with the Royal Family issue before and didn’t feel very involved in the matter; this story does arouse my interest though. Besides the material rewards are not very attractive. (GREEDY ME!) Otherwise I will give it 9.5/10.

The plot is well-written: the intriguing doll, the leads, the seeking, the Dinner and the TRUTH, the trap and the TWIST. I love them all (especially the TWIST that I missed).

The setting of the scene is beautiful, but I think there are a few minor flaws. First, discovering the TRUTH (and TRUTH burns!) actually fuels the tension and dramatic effect when you need to make your final decision, will the one who choose not to turn around feel the same level of thrill in his/her final decision? I don’t know. (That might explain why FBG makes the option to pop up twice.)

Second, there isn’t enough information/hints for me to make my final decision (again that may due to my lack of knowledge in the Royal Family or FBG deliberately create this situation). So I picked the most safe-assured one, my rationality paid off but I missed the big TWIST. I am not regretting it until I have read the log from others’ journals. (I want to befriend B_______ instead of her brother! How ADORABLE she is!) If FBG made that option to pop up twice like what they did in the TRUTH (such a good trick in luring people to die!) and give a more detailed description on the girl (her facial expressions, gestures, eye contact and the like), I would feel better and the story would be even more impressive and compelling. (Alright I know I am kind of harsh.)

One last comment, I truly wish I can make acquaintance with B_______ in the future! I hope FBG will consider adding this into future content of the Gift storylet and thank you for bringing me such a wonderful experience!

This storyline was incredible. I don't regret playing it, and may play it again, choosing an alternative route. And as many have mentioned, being eaten was definitely a magnificent and perverse experience. 10/10.

Well, the one request I have about this new content is this: can the new opportunity cards be discardable?

I love the new content and I'm very glad I've played it. But as someone who tried to keep his card deck as trim as I can, having one additional standard frequency card is noticeable, and making it non-discardable is annoying. I can't believe I would choose to play this particular card often, so after the first few times it becomes just clatter.

Well, I just finished this content (made a special Nex purchase 'cause I was 3 short of 30).

Not disappointed in the slightest! I love this little glance at the Royal Family, and...

An excellent Nex investment, so far as I'm concerned. The walk through the Cellars alone was worth the cost. And that business with the fancy lock... MYSTERIES REVEALED! WITH SCIENCE!! CRYPTOLOGICAL SCIENCE!!! Also bad decisions. VERY bad decisions...

I agree with the Consensus- this is splendid. Quite a long story, too! Even powering through it at level cap, it took a while. A good while. A FUN while, especially given some of the suspicions about, among other things,
the place Beneath the Palace, the Royal Family, and the Bazaar's Daughter it makes less cloudy.

Also, on that note, the New Sequence
is one new Mystery on my radar....even if I haven't ran into A.E. yet.

I'll just add my voice to others to say this is excellent content, and Nex well spent.

The writing is fantastic and I'm sure it will give me plenty of nightmares in days to come (and I don't mean just in-game Nightmares). Serves me right for being curious about the Royal Children and the palace cellars...

Well done FBG.
