Hello,

I am always reluctant to sell goods to the bazaar, because many of them are necessary for cards' options. But from the other side I would like to have more Echoes to spend :P
So I'm asking, could we make a list of the items that can be sold "safely" because they are not needed for anything else?

Thanks!

That really depends on what storylines and cards you're likely to encounter in the near future. That said, candles, wax and wine are often useful to hang on to.

Usually Glim, Jade, Moon-pearls, Brass, Rostygold and Deep Amber are the easiest items to come by, so they can be sold in rather large amounts. Since I've become a Person of Some Importance, I always have at least 10,000 of these in stock and when I sell some or all of them off I immediately begin to reassemble...

I would not recommend selling those things which cannot be bought at the Bazaar. At least not until you know how to get another one.

Oh yes, I would never sell those, they recur too often in the cards (and I'm far from being a person of some importance). But what about rarer (and more lucrative) objects?

For example: aeolian screams, the various gems, appalling secrets, intriguing/incendiary gossips, inkling of identity, phosphorescent scarabs, infernal contracts, etc.

When dealing with such exotic items it's often a good idea to consult a wiki before selling. Many of them (to my knowlege Aeolian Screams are among those) have yet to have any use, but some (such as Incendiary Gossips) may unlock opportunities later.

Given where you're at (far from PoSI), and based purely on my experiences in Fallen London, I recommend:

Sell Aeolian Screams, as they're mainly used for the Tournament of Lilies (plant fights)
Sell diamonds, because they appear fairly frequently and FAR more than other gems. Do not sell sapphires or rubies at this stage.
Appalling secrets appear with increasing regularity at the higher levels of the game, so they can probably be sold (some at least)
Inklings of identity also turn up more often later, but there aren't too many places I've found to get them regularly
Keep your infernal contracts, especially if you're getting involved in the soul trade or want to become a PoSI
Incendiary gossip becomes useful later on and isn't especially easy to get - probably keep it. Intriguing gossip I haven't seen any use for.
Scarabs seem to have few uses so far.

Hope this helps.

I rarely sell anything besides the commonest of commodities, but I am quite the hoarder in this sort of thing. The easiest of even the common commodities mentioned by Mr. Burandt to acquire (for me anyway) are glim and nevercold brass. As a person of some importance, all the ones he mentioned are available to be farmed at a rate of 100 per adventure, but glim and brass are acquirable even faster via playing pygmalion at Mahogany Hall.

Abominable salts, used for Knife-and-Candle, are no longer used and sell well. Also, if you choose to play with the Fisher-Kings or during a confrontation with vermin in your lodgings, *spoilers* there are opportunities to acquire a large number of clothes, doubles can be sold (although keep 1 of each and an additional 10 ridiculous hats).*spoilers*

Otherwise I find that I need to keep everything else that I have in bulk or the items are so rare I decline to sell them.

I greatly enjoy meeting delicious new friends and participating in deliciously exciting new adventures! Please feel free to drop a card to meet for dinner, exchange favors, give an interview, or any other activity that comes to mind. I DO particpate in exchanges requiring Fate, BUT you must contact me first; twitter, facebook, or here on the forums via PM.

Note: I am currently exchanging parcels with a large number of dear friends and my parcel opportunities are rare. I am always willing to exchange but your rate of return may be rather slow. To find others to exchange with I recommend the Starveling list.

As every new item appears in my inventory I give a squeak of joy and vow never to sell it until I've a lot of them/an easy way to recover them should they be sold. But that said, at the higher end of the level stats there's less need to liquify stocks. If I need to do that I tend to just sell the glim from a cycle in the Labyrinth, or teaching Lyme/Devil in Mahogany Hall.
Until we know what the new things will be used for, it's perhaps safer to keep them - if only to see if you can fill up the slots on the new inventory.

Deep Amber can also be farmed at large rates at Mahogany Hall by Working for Jasper and Frank, and Moon-pearls by stealing the box office. Mahogany Hall is really quite profitable, and you don't even need to be a PoSI for it...

I will say, definitely don't sell the candles. They are useful for so very many things, I never seem to have enough.

Hmm, it seems that, in the light of the announcement of the new content, this part will have to be revised...
