More expensive gun, more irons, less damage?

Not sure if this has ever been addressed or if i'm missing something...
I recently upgraded my deck gun from the Reproach (10 Iron) to the Denunciation (15 Iron, 1 Cannon). My damage actually dropped from 25 - 29 to 24-27 after the upgrade.
Is this a bug? Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, noted this as well. Still haven't heard back. I suppose it might be because of range that it does less damage?
