So, yea, 258 actions searching for my soul, and no luck. One starveling cat.

As to the original problem: might it be an idea to give new/temporary options on cards/storylets a different background color? That should be a good warning mechanism to tell people something is up. Or you could color just the OK button.

As far as I know for the University card has a watchful range that some people have gone past. Also the option in the Flit is always available (once you have opened that area) and you don't have to keep flipping cards.

Oh, I didn't know it has a range. I was considering to sell my soul (again) to buy the upgrade of my guest room. Now I don't think I will.

Just checked and according to the wiki the range for Map the new heavens is 69 to 120 so if you can get or keep your watchful below 120 you should be OK to use the University card option.

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.

No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

Isn't the Bundle of Oddities value for that variable? I thought it was mostly a bug that made it give exactly the right value. They changed the Bonfire of the Decencies card too.

Edit: Oh, and I just confirmed that the first option on the Western Tower card is no longer the Soul selling one. Excellent.

Please do not send SMEN, cat boxes, or Affluent Reporter requests. All other social actions are welcome.

Are you a Scarlet Saint? Send a message my way to be added to the list.

I feel like I accomplished something here :3

Still no soul though... It's not like it was worthless. I did get a night whisper and storm threnodies, so it's a lot of echoes worth of stuff. Just a bit annoying.

At least you got the cat. Mostly I seem to be accumulating honey via the least efficient process available. Hopefully it's still possible to find one's soul in one of these cursed bundles.

Well, I very nearly had a similar problem. Went for the second option and at the last second I saw that they had added ANOTHER option at the top of the card (that involves throwing a soul into the fireplace). Take this as forewarning for the next time you get the Embassy card.

Ha! It took an obscene amount of time spent having "Fun" with the Fisher Kings, but in case anyone else was beginning to doubt, it is apparently still possible to find one's soul in a bundle of oddities. Even if the opportunity cost wasn't cheap.

I have long considered SMEN purely to get my soul stained so I don't have devils constantly romancing me (or otherwise tricking me out of it, now, apparently).

You can also become Enhanced, as SMEN is locked at the moment, I believe.
Though that is a rather expensive Fate option.
However, there are quite a few players who consider soul selling to be a pretty good Echo Per Action exchange.

I'm fast approaching 400 actions with no soul found :/

EDIT: And at 382 actions, I found something unexpected Big Grin My soul is back where it belongs... In a jar, in a safe, in a vault, in the basement of my house, guarded by my Tiger lily and other assorted minions.

Thanks!

And Nigel, that's interesting, I hadn't known about the Enhanced Soul option. Or is that referring to the peculiar enhancement from Flute Street? If so then yes, that's pretty expensive -- especially for something that's ephemeral, no? And oh yeah, I'd forgotten SMEN was still locked. I know Alexis had said an officially supported variant was in the works. I've been Unaccountably Peckish for ages.

It's hard to believe that people think spending hundreds of actions getting 10 honey and 'something wretched' with the Fisher Kings is worth even the most generous soul prices, but perhaps it averages out better than my recent experience. Or maybe folks just sell their soul without worrying too much about getting it back in the near future, and then one day when it shows up in a bundle of oddities it's a pleasant surprise? A watched bundle never contains a soul, as my mother always said.

While on the general subject of souls, is there ANY other way besides staining one's soul or peculiarly enhancing oneself to get those admiring devils out of my deck? It annoys me an unreasonable amount to have them there. If I (perish the thought) sell my soul to one of them, will that make them bug off even after I get it back? Because THAT might well be a worthwhile price for a soul.

Yes. Sadly, they seem to lose interest in you after that. Such inconstancy!

As far as I remember if you have a (unstained) soul and any connected Hell they will try to get you to give it to them. But you need to play ann option on a specific card to start the Intimate of Devils story line, so be extra careful where you click smile
Plus there is an option in the House of Chimes that can get you Intimate with Devils as well
Yes, but if they actually get your soul from you then Intimate of Devils goes to a level where the cards stop showing up.

Exactly what I wanted to confirm!

Thanks Ciel and company for the additional insights. Yes, it's not hard to get rid of the An Intimate of Devils quality (which reduces the card harassment), but it doesn't keep that "A devil's taken a shine to you" card from showing up all the livelong time. Which I still find terribly irritating.
