There's a random encounter, I know it happens on Port Cecil and I think the Funging Station, that presents a veils challenge for a live specimen.

I thought it was an Iron challenge, but I may be misremembering (definitely on Port Cecil and the Funging Station though).

Iron Challenge got you the Strange Catch, I believe, and Veils the Live Specimen. I can confirm it happens on Port Cecil, though I've never been at the Funging Station enough to see it happen.
