Getting back into the University?

I've recently one through the University story line regarding the murder, and I went for the branch that resulted in me being kicked out of the University. However, looking at the options for it, I can't help but notice that one of the options on Shadowy Dealings at the University requires you to be a Respectable Academic. So, I'd like to ask if you can be readmitted to the University at some point in the plot, or if you have to go for the other route.
I don't really need to know when or how to become a member of the University once more; I would just like to know if it's possible.

You can indeed be readmitted. You don't get all the old story options back - the Guest Lecturer/Department of - stories - but you will be considered a Respectable Academic for the purposes of item conversions and such.
