Perfect.
Also: If your Persuasive is in the low 100sI, and you are in the Palace, start working on something and use The People's Art. You can use a TRF to lower Persuasive further and get to about 50% success rate. Failing gives +1 Scandal & Suspicion, success is +1 Suspicion (+15 CP Inspired).
There are probably other good avenues at this level, but this one is working well; be unlucky and it's the same as the forgotten quarter, get lucky and you can accept a whimsy in three actions total.
Sadly, this can only work for one of my alts...

Anyone know good sources for getting up to Unaccountably Peckish 2? I'm stuck at 1 +1cp, and can't get to the Duchess option.

Send someone a Starveling Cat - that gives 1cp. If you haven't got one send me a message in game and I will get one to you as soon as possible. I've finished with mine for this Hallowmas but I do want it back.

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.
No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

Best thing: Spend time eating lumps at the carnival. About 20-25% of rare success raises 1 CP. You'll probably have to invest 15-20 action untill raising to level 2 (achieving rare success) but worth it to acquire menaces!

If you have a Counterfeit Head of John the Baptist, setting it to your bedside will give you Unaccountably Peckish as well as get rid of it (so you can get a Mandrake) BTW, just finished all of my 100+ confessions. Thanks for all the tips!

Excellent, Lady Ciel, I'll do that.
And yes, I ate counterfeit heads for the first two CP of Peckish. But I am not getting the card to harvest another from my plant, so I'm stuck. edited by ElseWise on 11/4/2015

I got Peckish by restarting Educating Lyme and getting Pygmalion up to 7 and Send Lyme to the Market. You'd need to have progressed far enough in Mahogany Hall. Better to have done it before Hallowmas though

UH. Uhhh. uhhhhhhhhHHHHHHH.
Going to menace states changed. Try Again doesn't save you from menace states anymore.
I unfortunately discovered this after accepting like, 10 poisonings or something. I needed the space in my messages tab...

This will only help if you're sitting on a stack of Counterfeit Head of John the Baptists, but for whimsy: 0. equip/unequip Mod Bonnet and Pirate Hat, ending on Hat with Stockings equipped 1. Employ a Counterfeit Head of John the Baptist for practical jokes: 1a. 50% chance of 'success' and no progress, but keep the Head and get minor items 1b. 50% chance of 'failure', for 2pts scandal and 1pt suspicion, losing a Head 2. One turn of public lectures for the last point of suspicion needed 3. Confess and repeat
Step 1 is a coin flip that will average 2 turns to get a the 'failure' that you want, so this is an average of 3 turns to be ready for a Whimsy confession.
I wondered if anyone else found this out! I had a bunch of heads laying around and needed to get rid of them to acquire the mandrake. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized how helpful the heads were for Whimsy!
My Peckish is actually too high for the Duchess (probably all of those severed heads sitting at my bedside...). Should I decrease my peckishness to regain access to that storyline? I'm not sure it's worth it as both nightmares and scandal are available from items, but +4 CP of any menace is pretty appealing.

I believe it is worth it. 1. Gain 1+1 scandal & suspicion with loading-unloading equipment 2. Do Public lecture X 2 3. Do one "peckish at the duchess" to achieve scandal 1.5+1 and 2.333 nightmare 4. wear the Bonnet to achieve 3.333+1 nightmare 5. Play with mandrake X3 for Wounds 3. 6. Confess Pride 7. Another "Peckish at the duchess" - Nightmare 2.3333 and finally raising scandal to 2+1 8. Mandrake X3 - Wounds 9. Confess Pride 10. Wear Pirate hat to achieve suspect 2+1 11. Confess Whimsy.
Total of 10 actions to get the ability to confess 2 Prides+1 Whimsy (not including the action to confess itself). That's 3.333 actions to confess something. Not bad.

I think you can do it in fewer actions if you get people to poison you as then you don't need to play with the mandrake.

True, also if duping you. But I assume one doesn't get 50 poisons from others

And if you don't want poison, remember that "Gawp" is more efficient than the mandrake as not only do you get +2cp Wounds every time, but you also get some Appalling Secrets and Tales of Terror.

Thank you for doing the math! It is tempting, I'm just concerned about the time I'll need to spend lowering Peckish, since it appears "you can't sleep for hunger" only drives it down 1 CP. Edit: that's what the wiki says but it actually decreases more quickly. Nevermind! edited by MissCrumpet on 11/6/2015

True, the roasted nuts said to lower 1 CP on wiki but actually lowers 3 CP

Is anyone else having trouble adjusting to the fact that, after hearing all confessions, menaces are a bad thing again? I couldn't raise them quickly enough before; now every CP suddenly matters!
(Extra points for neglecting to open a treacherous request for scandal reduction when it mattered, and ended up with Scandal 3 and no confession requests to accept.)
-- The Duke of Waltham welcomes requests for assistance from those troubled by menaces, and His Grace's townhouse is always open to visitors who will not attempt to steal the silverware or extract support for yet another ill-advised scheme concerning photographers.
