I know the game is still unfinished and in a Beta-like state, but there are a number of things I have found in Sunless Sea to be not functioning as I would expect. I thought we could discuss these things before I dump dozens of "are-these-a-bug-reports" into the lap of a few very busy developers over the next few days. I'll do my best to include screenshots and recordings when I can but those will probably come a little later.
- Moody's Light - When your ship is illuminated by its light, it has no effect on terror growth like all other light sources do. Intentional, because it is a "moody light" that is creepy? Screenshot
- Torpedo Nets - They can be used in combat (or at least, the action icon can be queued) even if you have them unslotted and in your hold. You can also still use them after they have been sold. Do know that I have not checked to see if these two situations still occur if you purchased Torpedo Nets but never slotted them. At one point in my current game, I replaced the nets with a Pneumatic Ratsender and I cannot recall the exact procedure I used, so if others cannot seem to replicate this, perhaps that is where the problem lies.
- Torpedoes' Minimum Illumination Requirement - The description states that they require at least 50 Illumination on the enemy, they can be launched below 50, although I have not found their actual minimum value yet. Screenshot
- Repair Timer - If using the repair feature outside of battle and you are engaged at the same time, the repair timer will remain on screen throughout combat. Screenshot
- Cache of Curiosities - The dialog/gazetteer flow is inconsistent between various sources of CoC. When(if) you defeat a Lifeberg, the transition from page to page is smooth and pleasing. With other enemies, such as the Corsairs or Steam-Pinnace you leave the after battle report thing for a moment to return to navigating your ship only to have the gazetteer reappear to deal with the CoC event. Screenshots: Ideal flow and Jumpy Flow The same sort of disjointed dialog happens when you have 1-9 observations: the post-victory stuff appears over, but instants later, a poorly drawn cartoon fish informs you that you didn't really grasp the nature of what you saw.
- Observations - Is it intentional to skip over and lock out the player from the reward of getting 10+ observations if the player chooses other options first in the victory page?
- In-Combat Repairs can exceed maxhull - Using the repair options available in combat (Emergency Repairs and Pneumatic Rat Delivery) can cause your ship to temporarily have a hull value greater than its maximum. This does not persist after the battle ends. I have not tested if taking damage while over your maximum drains hull points from the displayed value or starts at whatever the hull maximum is. - Land not Recorded on Chart - Island-like features of this kind are not marked on the chart in many places. Screenshot 1 Screenshot 2
