About the zeabat, it would be great if key shortcuts could be assigned to actions, or an auto dismiss after a few sec if nothing found

I hope there will be other sources for a couple of the curator's items then. If not I will just do without a yacht.
By the way there is an invisible obstacle in the Swallowing Isles - I don't know if it is a feature or a bug. It wouldn't surprise me if it is deliberate given the name of the place
Edit to add also there is no docking circle at Khan's Shadow. edited by reveurciel on 7/31/2014

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.
No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

I just wanted to point out this:
COMBAT is a different matter. We knew it needed work – you can see it’s marked as about 65% on our progress plan – but the feedback has been very clearly that it’s the weakest part of the game right now. So our current plan (TBC this week) is to
relabel it as 50% complete focus the month of August, and an extra release – STEEL – on combat, beastie pathfinding, and related issues slip the other releases by a month.
That’s a pain for us – and we know it’s not great news for people eager for the final release - but there’s no point us listening to feedback if we don’t respond to it. We want to make the best game we can, and all of you are helping us do that. So – thank you all! We’ll see you on the other side of EMERALD.
(from the patchnotes)
My feedback is a great "thank you" to the developers because it's obviously a choice that will set them back a bit but it's also a great response to players' requests and it shows that the game is going nowhere if not in the right direction. Looking forward to see Steel and Emerald is already great!

I was sad when I realized the secure storage was an item. I have too much loot!

I am loving this update so far, new ways to make money, new things to do, it's great! My only complaint is the empty regions between here and there, but I know it would probably not be worth taking areas which haven't been added out of the shuffle with those that have when it won't matter in the end. Looking forward to the combat update next, this game is already eating all my time and it's still got so much more to come!

A very minor note, I'm a bit puzzled by the sound of our ship... did they really sound like trains?

This is the first time I have played a longer run since the early access (May/June) game, and I am really enjoying myself. For me, the map shuffling is great, and really adds to the exploration aspect of the game. It is really exciting not to know what islands you are going to find sailing out into the dark. Until now it has had positive and negative effects on my strategy. I have not yet been able to find Mount Palmerson even though I have explored almost half the map, and have been sailing around with the blind bruisers package for hours. On the other hand, the Sea Lions are right next to Venderbight on my current map, so my cash problems are over for the moment. It still feels difficult to choose the best strategy between exploring and grinding for better equipment. I am not sure how much my chances of survival would be improved by saving up for a better ship. For the moment, I have chosen to just have fun exploring (and dying a lot). That does mean using the manual save after basically every successful run. I really do not want to risk my hard earned cash… On smaller things, the new bats and markings on the map are great, but the hints to location of places is not always correct. It will state for example that an island is to the south, when it is actually almost directly east. The iron republic looks great, but my one short visit was really confusing. Not sure if this a bug, or if it is supposed to be like that… As comment on the present discussion, I do like the engine sound. It is a lot like the diesel engine of my parents old ship, and gives me quite nostalgic feelings :-)

Makes sense, but I'd like to see the volume and harshness of the sound reduced slightly. I guess I'm nitpicking, but I'm a musician/amateur audio engineer, so those are just things that really stand out to me. Thanks for the explanation though!

Something very stupid but worthwhile to add: the date on the saved games!

I hope that after Steel we don't have to wait too long for more areas to be added to the game as, personally, I didn't find combat the most frustrating aspect of Sunless Sea.
What I wish is that map shuffling hadn't been introduced until there were more tiles in the game. Don't get me wrong I am still enjoying the game and actually finding that the positions of various islands and features within a tile can be different definitely mixed things up and made things more exciting. As now finding a place doesn't mean that you know exactly where to go to find the next nearest light, rock or island.
But getting endless blank tiles can be very frustrating, some of them do have lights or placeholder islands to make navigating without increasing terror easier but some are completely blank and until you zail into them you don't know what you are going to find. Plus the zeebat doesn't always work - for example mine doesn't recognise any of the features in the Snares. Also I'm still not too sure about the Admiralty directions.
The other thing that I am looking forward to is the integration of Officers, being able to learn their stories and seeing what the placeholder options during certain events do. Even if this does mean that we risk losing them.
So I really am looking forward to whatever Alexis and the Failbetter team come up with but hope that we don't have to wait too long

Yes - next week hopefully.
There is also some new content which has lead to another treasure hunt. Time to visit everywhere and see if I can track down the items.
