Er... I do believe it's simply a love story like any other. Only in this case, both involved happen to be male. It's not like anyone calls the other ones "straight love stories."
Sorry to argue semantics, but your phraseology carries with it some unfortunate implications, at least the way that I read it. Though I'm sure you didn't intend for that to be the case. (I hope...?)

I think what Dan means (correct me if I'm wrong), is that he likes that a same-sex relationship is one of the major love stories of Fallen London, given the same focus and weight well-known historical romances like Queen Victoria and Albert, because it's not something you see every day in storytelling. I know I'm always glad to see same-sex relationships being in stories, especially when it's not hidden beneath subtext or made a special issue of.
