Er... I do believe it's simply a love story like any other. Only in this case, both involved happen to be male. It's not like anyone calls the other ones "straight love stories." Sorry to argue semantics, but your phraseology carries with it some unfortunate implications, at least the way that I read it. Though I'm sure you didn't intend for that to be the case. (I hope...?)

While in the context of modern day relationships I would agree with you, Ladylikeikneel, and though I've not experienced this story yet, it's worth bearing in mind that this relationship may be seen through the eyes of Victorian social mores. Depending upon how the story is experienced, it is worth noting it perceived oddness.

I think what Dan means (correct me if I'm wrong), is that he likes that a same-sex relationship is one of the major love stories of Fallen London, given the same focus and weight well-known historical romances like Queen Victoria and Albert, because it's not something you see every day in storytelling. I know I'm always glad to see same-sex relationships being in stories, especially when it's not hidden beneath subtext or made a special issue of.

*That slight giggle I get when someone referrers to Fallen London in the same context as mainstream games.* =P

I'll be looking forward to finding this story (unless I've found it somewhere and my wretched memory combined with a disorganized journal has caused it to get lost). It made me happy when I first started seducing the artist's model way back in Veilgarden that we weren't constrained to heterosexual relationships in-game because of Victorian era social mores. Of course, this has now made me slightly jealous of my character as she has found someone and I just continue my terrifying habit of falling for straight women. Still, it's great to see Failbetter giving us this story and these options.
