Yes, later on, you can get the opportunity to run your own newspaper, which is a carousel-type story somewhat similar to the writing one you mentioned. Gather enough stories and you run off a print of it and rake in your profit according to the quality (quantity, let's be honest) of your content.
I have sent you a calling card in game, so check your messages to read (and presumably accept) it.
You could ask here, as Professions fit under the purview of Money quite nicely, or start elsewhere as you deem suitable.
-- I'm sorry, but due to policy clarifications, I will no longer be giving detailed mechanics advice on the forums.
If you still need help, try the IRC channel.

Just send a social invitation of any kind - coffee; chess; sparring and loitering (be careful with the last one as it lowers making waves and connected Society so Notable POSIs and Salon owners might not be able to accept immediately) I've sent you a little welcome present don't forget to check your message tab in London.
Ask as many questions as you like, a new topic for a different subject is fine that way other people might find it useful as well. edited by reveurciel on 7/8/2014

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.
No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

Just as a note: some social actions require an acquaintance rather than a contact; for example, once your persuasive goes high enough, you can invite someone to dinner if you've exchanged a contact card, which gives 2 Confident smiles instead of one for coffee. Those cost Free Evenings, though, and you only get 5 a week.
Also, it is completely worth it to take the extra effort to make the social actions in-character by including a little message! That's a major part of the fun for me, especially once I got into the romantic social actions (which I usually spend my Free Evenings on). edited by Rackenhammer on 7/8/2014

Thanks for the access codes. Seriously. If there are any more, I'd love them. Difficult Breakfast, Coffee, and the last link seem to not work. But those codes should be accessible to every new player. I mean, easier to find as opposed to, you know, digging through the forum. If people don't read this thread, they wouldn't even know these things exist. Anyway, thanks again.

Those codes were all posted on the various social media streams or through emails at one point or another. I just collate them so people don't have to dig through years worth of tweets or whatever to find one working code.
They should all still have uses left; access codes can be finicky sometimes, though- if one doesn't work, just go back and try it again until it agrees to co-operate.

Oops. That was me. Didn't notice I wasn't logged in. Sorry. Edit: I got a kick out of the "Colossal Cave" code. As a fan of IF, it definitely made me smile. ETA: The "Aromatic" code is definitely dead. I got a message in my game inbox saying as much. edited by Taleria on 7/9/2014
-- Taleria No Loitering requests, please. Menace help is accepted, but no more than two requests per person. Not interested in cats. Other invitations are fine.
