The Albino Rat?

[SPOILERS for the SERENITY OF THE PLASTER FACE and PLAYING WITH BROKEN TOYS stories]
Dear fellow Postlapsarians,
I've been waiting to progress in the Playing with Broken Toys story for a while now. Out of frustration, I started browsing the wikis to find out what I was missing. It turns out, I miss an Albino Rat, and apparently the only way to obtain it is to decide to kill the Big Rat. But I didn't kill it and I'm now allied to it (it was a story I wasn't really fond of so I did not pay too much attention). Is this really the only way to obtain the Albino Rat? Do I have to replay the whole Plaster Face affair?

I believe there's only one more step after finding the Albino Rat, and that's a content boundary, not a proper ending - so there's every reason to expect that, when the story is next updated, an alternative path for allies of the Big Rat will appear.
