Is there any fate-locked content for the Northernly Oriented?

No, don't do it. Even if you can get all of it for free, you still shouldn't do it.

there absolutely is fatelocked content: two pieces in particular in the most recent content batch. but, um, well, you should probably see it for yourself first.

I'm not sure if I'll be so foolish as to go Seeking. The Masters asked me not to, after all. But I hold the fate-locked content in high regard, and I would hate to think of a section of the Bazaar's story that wasn't thus expanded.

It's not quite what you're thinking. I also feel the same way about Fate-locked content, and had the Fate for both options, but I didn't touch either of them. You'll see if you get there.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I didn't want to dig through the previous pages for an answer. Anyways, would you lot consider the... peculiar (and pricey) option in Flute Street to be worth the Fate? It looks incredibly interesting, but I want to make sure it is worth it.

It's only worth it if you want the rubbery consort as your constant companion. Otherwise, it just unlocks some new options on a few opportunity cards — and only temporarily, at that, as the quality goes away over time.

Thank you kindly, friend. Seeing as I need a bit more work in my Persuasive and Shadowy to be a PoSI, I can't use the consort at the moment. I'm glad I didn't spend the Fate for just a few cards.

Right, just a quick survey of opinions on a course of action. I have 10 Fate at this moment and was considering just plopping down $2.50 for 10 Nex. However, I don't know quite what to spend it on. I have already used fate to buy into the Foreign Office Storyline (bit of a disappointment) to get the special spouse at the end of it. It was pretty skimpy content though so I want to make this next purchase more meaningful. My options are:

1. Simply subscribe for a month and have access to the House of Chimes and 20 max action points. The most profitable in the long term but after the House of Chimes I don't know what I would spend those action points on.

2. Theological Husbandry, and I would get access to all of those neat pets and the Obdurate Stallion for transport which looks awesome. The only problem is that I have no interest in any of the other pets, I have already bought better ones from the Bazaar. But it is a lot of content.

3. Lastly, Investigating the Velocipede Squad will render (through unknown means) a veritable motrocyle clled the Ratwork Velocipede which gives a +2 Dreaded and +2 Respectable thus making it better than the Obdurate Stallion. However, I am afraid this will be a short series of storylets that is valuable only for a single set of reward items like the Foreign Office.

I am leaning towards the subscription and access to the House of Chimes. But what do you guys think of it?

Theological Husbandry could lead to interesting things later down the line. I say this because the way I ended the card sequence is definitely going to lead into more content, and it'd be a bit of a shame if the other options didn't offer something later too. The Velocipede Squad was mentioned as having a proper ending, but even that will likely be recognized later down the line.

Alexis Kennedy wrote:

Re story threads being wrapped up. If you mean tied in a neat bow, with no further possible outcomes or consequences... I can't think of one that is or will be until the game closes. That's not how Fallen London works. smile But in terms of stories that have a proper ending of some kind, then *off the top of my head* - Black Ribbon, Comtessa, Loquacious Vicar, Mysterious Benefactor, Battle of Wolfstack Docks, Black-Framed Painting, Correspondence Stones, Affair of the Box, Jack, Big Rat, Velocipede Squad, Cheesemonger, Rubbery Murders, Flute Street, Long-lost Daughter, Regretful Soldier, Silk-clad Expert, Temple Club, War of Assassins, the University whodunnit, Voyage of Scientific Discovery, Person of Some Importance, Inconvenienced by your Aunt... I could go on. Of course, everyone remembers the ones that are left hanging, not the ones they polished off two years ago!

So I guess it depends on whether you want some more content now, or if you'd rather wait to see what will be most interesting to you later.

Well, that is a good point. And I heard the House of Chimes was not all that, so it would have to be a choice between the Theological Husbandry and the Velocipede Squad. On the one hand I am a Vake Hunter and interested in the beasts of the Neath but on the other I am also connected to the Constables through Spending Secrets. Tough call...

In my opinion, from best to worst:

Theological Husbandry - There are at least 2 pretty profitable item cards to be gained from it, alongside the bishop's story.

House of Chimes - Stories as well as additional actions. The Soldier's story is unforgettable.

Velocipede Squad - I never really got too acquainted with it in the first place, so it was pretty pointless for me. One of the pets from theological husbandry gives dreaded +2, so you're not losing out on too much.

Ok, that makes sense. I just wanted to be careful after the Foreign Office and not make any rash decisions. I seriously hope that my "Diplomatic Posting" goes through, but in the mean time I am off to the zoo.

I am a fan of the House of Chimes. Some interesting stories to be had there, especially upon entry. That may be the MOST options for any storylet I've ever seen. The extra candle isn't anything to sneeze at either, unless you allergic to candles, of course.

I'm presently looking at a card labled Steel and Stone. It is fate-locked, and two of the options on it are doubly fate-locked. I'm not sure how to meet the requirements for them, though, outside of the fate thingy I already did.

EDIT: Never mind, I found it. Turns out it was triple-fate locked. Nice.

Edit II: Specifically, it looks like I had to be friends with the regretful soldier, complete the soul trade story, talk to the soldier in the house of chimes, and THEN I can do the cool looking options on the soldiers Diocesan Intrigue card.

EDIT III: Curses! Now I'm waiting on an opportunity card!

Does anyone happen to know if I need to be in a specific location for the opportunity card to continue the Soldier's Heartbreaking Tale?

EDIT: I honestly don't even know the name of the card I'm looking for, and while I can guess it'll have the soldier's picture on it, I don't at all know, really.

Edit II: Oh good, It DID have his picture.

Sorry if I have missed this but a couple of things seem to be Fate Locked at the end of Opportunity card stories (Flute Street and Theological Husbandry).

So if I do not have the necessary Fate/Nex when it is time to make the decision will I lock myself out if I choose the non-fate option or will I still get the chance to pay at a later time? At least the Velocipede Squad and The Foreign Office allow you to pay at the end of a carousel so there is no need to make an immediate choice.
