So Corsair Frigates seem to be where all the money is at as far as trade goods and curiosities go. Got a Captivating Treasure! off one over the weekend. For that hellish grind toward a new ship, it's a godsend.

So is everyone able to do the Shattered Citadel storylet? Every time I go its locked with the Key of Histories but from what I read I should be able to do it already. Is this a bug on my part?

It's rather like eating a trout, if the trout had tried to kill you a few hours ago. Take that ersatz trout.

I didn't do it, wouldn't know how to do it, and I was in Paris at the time it happened Officer.

Yep. Have you downloaded the latest HumbleBundle version (or maybe Steam thing, but I don't speak Steam..)?

Huh. I have the latest patch from HumbleBundle and I downloaded latest Steam update. It says my New Stories are all up to date but no Citadel. I did have a weird bug messing with my graphics after the latest patch but that fixed itself eventually. Should I try downloading the patch again?

Yep, 10 candles sitting in my hold, which now seems to be a waste of echoes since I can't do the storylet.

Does anyone else both with observations of enemies? Bats dont seem to be a problem, Flare-Ob-Ob-OB-ob-salvo-salvo. But sometimes they get a swarm attack in. Does anyone have any info on how far away enemies need to be, I'm fed up of losing crew to tenticles when I'm 20-30 yards away... upset

MoridinUK I don't think, but I'm not sure, that distance is factored in the enemy ability to attack you, it's your Illumination that matters, you have to Evade and keep you Illumination as low as possible.

I've heard that lifebergs need to be within 40 meters to use crush on you.

You can check what the requirements are for an enemy to use an ability simply by pausing and hovering the mouse over the icon of the ability their are using.

Those who drops Captivating Treasures (1000 echoes in university):

1. Lifebergs
2. Mt Nomad
3. Frigates

Also more rarely Angler Crabs, Bound Sharks

Possibly Albino Moray and Elder Crabs ... I haven't got them yet but as they are stronger than Angler Crabs and Bound Sharks it seems likely

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.

No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

I've just been reminded what a horrible idea it is to fight war trimarians with 100 veils, 80 irons, 50 mirrors, and a basic ship. Horrible idea.

I have to ask now, are pirate frigates better or worse?

Can't recall what a War Trimarian is, but, Corsair Frigates are 75 Hull ships that can hit for ~50 hull max. So they will two shot you, possibly one shot you with a Devastating Salvo. In my mind, they are just simply higher damage versions of the Pirate Steamers. If you have enough irons to two shot them and a full hull, your chances of winning the fight are fairly good. But just one landed salvo from them is basically going to be your last fight until you return to Fallen London. (I really hope we get some additional dry dock options out in the zee.)

Khanate War Trimaran is 100 hull and 20 crew, I tend to use flensing attacks as it seems easier to me to get rid of the crew than sink the hull but, until you have built up your stats and got more hull yourself I definitely recommend getting a Pewter Horsehead from Gaider's Mourn as soon as possible. Then they are just an irritation and push you around a bit.

If you can beat a Bound shark and can investigate you get minor hull repair (2 or 3 points normally) but some terror as well. It is just enough to counter the damage done by a wild salvo but not for anything more.

Also killing War Trimarans gets you Khanate suspicion, which is already an expensive pain in the ass to deal with without farming your way to trouble as well.

You can choose to let them go and then you get a reduction in khanate suspicion and a small terror decrease as well.

I couldn't even get to the point of attacking the ship (I was purely evading and occasionally using flares, even with 110 veils), so I think i'll stay away from the ships near Gaider's Mourn for now unless their mirrors is significantly lower or they don't like using potent flares as much.

I have terrible pages though (and can't succeed at chess no matter how often it shows up), so I usually just take my free supplies and hunger reduction on bound sharks.

Frigates don't use potent flares that I've seen. Like I said, overgrown Pirate Steamers gone fat with lewt.

Oooh, that's interesting, thanks! How much does it reduce suspicion? Mine is up to 15, but the options to reduce it are a bit expensive for me. I might try my luck with a Trimaran if it's a decent reduction. (After saving, of course :p)

Re: Fallen London, please don't invite me to things or send me things, I'm only on occasionally, so you will waste your candle smile Thank you.
