Activation Code?

I'm having a hell of a time connecting my client to my FL account, as I am 'getting new stories' (is that the same thing?). I click the button, use my FL account login, and am then asked for an activation code. I've never recieved an activation code, and I have no idea what I'm supposed to enter here.
I also cant seem to find any information about this on the forums or website.
What do I do? I've heard that the 'get new stories' option is also how the hotfix things in the game, which from what can see that game desperately needs balance wise.

Hi there - this should be the code you get when you use the humble bundle link. Click on the 'fallen london' button at the top, and copy/paste the code there.

Is there one of these for Steam as well? The dialog says there should be, but I'm not given a code.
