Reducing scandal in Polythreme?

I've been grinding a lot of surface-silk in Polythreme and gaining scandal. It seems that I don't get sent to the Tomb Colonies when it hits 8, but I presume that I will as soon as I return to the fifth city? Is there a way to reduce it before I return?

Personally, I'd recommend visiting the Iron Republic on your way home., You can cash in "Changed by the Iron Republic" for Menace cures there at the end of the carousel, not to mention some actions on their bizarre carousel can swap, or even reset to an arbitrary number, your menaces on your way through it.
