If nothing else, currently, choosing a past gives you both a bonus to a stat and a bit of extra starting Echoes.

I like defining who I am. It helps give the illusion on control.

I did the no-past option to get around the crash-into-the-dock-and-die bug for a while. I missed the free officer and stat bonus, but what really annoyed me was that I couldn't even pick a silhouette, never mind a name or term of address.

What I love about this community: The fact that no one yet has picked the fourth option. I'm amused that it's there, and delighted that no one has chosen it.

  • CameoAppearance - when you finally do select a past (by talking to one of your officers) you can choose a silhouette and a name and a term of address. It makes (or made, when I did it) combat a little funky, because suddenly a Shadowy Stranger was Seeking me as well as the thing I was fighting.

Yeah, I know, but my point was that I dislike having no face or name as well as no past.

Thank you for tempting fate, it wouldn't be much of a community without one
