I would like to apologize about my English in advance. Me not be good english speaker :P
Until yesterday, when I had no actions I could still check the options of each storylet. Now, for some reason, when I click 'Go' to see the options of a storylet (not to do one of the options in a storylet!) I am directed to this page - http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m564/VoodooMaster7/PurchaseFatepage.png
It also happens with cards.
Does it happen to anyone else? Is it a bug? It's just so annoying...

Hi all - apologies, there's a misunderstanding here, which is my fault.
It was me that said this:
Twoflower wrote:
"This is a conscious design choice, I'm afraid, and unlikely to change." But I misunderstood your bug report, Twoflower - I didn't realise the behaviour of the Fate prompt had changed. This wasn't a conscious change, but a side effect of some other stuff we're working on. We'll look into it.
Judging from this thread, this issue has obviously exercised people a great deal. Could I ask that if you're confused by a change you please, please, please email fallenlondonbugs@failbettergames.com or - if you're not sure it's a bug - post about it in the feedback forum? It makes it much easier for us to identify problems. Posting about it on Twitter or here doesn't give us the information we need.
Whereas a clear bug report that tells us what you expected to happen and what actually happened is not only invaluable...
...it's delicious.
Thanks!

Seems like an obvious ploy to toss the "spend money!" screen at folks a lot more often. Once again, marketing wins out over user experience/game play. Oh well.
If anything, it has made me less likely to spend money, since they have defaced their own product. I imagine people who subscribe will be annoyed by those screens as well. Poorly thought out decision all around, this.

User interface issues like this make the game markedly less fun to play. It's disappointing to see this disappear into the abyss of bugs that staff are well aware of but are apparently not a priority to fix, such as the opportunity card timer and echoing for action refreshes.

Fallen London is probably my favorite browser game since Kingdom of Loathing. Considering how much I like the game, I feel bad that my first post here (and the reason I found this forum in the first place) is for a complaint, but wow, it's amazing that such a simple change can be so incredibly annoying.
I'm a fairly new player, and after about a week I liked the game more than enough to justify shelling out for 'exceptional friendship' - not realizing how little extra content there is or that I would already be missing out on the ability to echo for actions.
So now I'm basically paying just to remove the advertisements from a game that now repeatedly shows me an advertisement to buy the advertisement free version of the game that's going to constantly advertise itself to me.
While I was previously considering playing through some of the fate locked story lines, the likelihood of my ever spending money on the game again has just dropped dramatically.

The combination of the three bugs (Opportunity card timer problem, no social echos and fate screen lock) is particularly bad.
I only re-upped my EF a couple of days ago becuase I will be out of town for a considerable amount of time this month. While out of town, I will probably be able to connect to Fallen London first thing in the A.M., and again last thing in the P.M. and MAYBE once during the day. So, I figured, the EF cost was worth it for me to get 20 actions in the two or three times a day I'll probably be able to connect, - that will double what I will be able to accomplish.
Since I just finished the fate-locked stories in the House of Chimes, there will be no reason to pay for EF again - but if the bugs were fixed, I probably would. However, If Fallen London remains in the current state - well, I'll enjoy it as is, but won't pay for EF again.

Trying not to be irked about this - but I have significantly less actions per day because of the echoing disabled bug, and now I have to leave an action in reserve at all times because of a deliberate design change that from my perspective in no way is to the advantage of the game player and in no way enhances the game experience at all - just the opposite.
I often would run my actions down and then consider what to do next because I could preview what my choices were - it was satisfying and helped me to strategically plan what to do with limited actions. (Also, I do not have an encyclopedic memory, thus constantly used the 'preview' as a memory aid to help me remember what my choices were.)
Not a pleasant change at all. edited by Aryenke on 6/19/2012

I noticed it too, and I don't like it; it was nice to be able to peek through storylets, it helped plan ahead the next moves.

Today, the Exceptional Friendships of my three (!) accounts have expired. I will certainly not renew any of them, or buy Fate for any other reason, before the problem discussed in this thread, the problem with the opportunity cards timer, and the problem with echoing content for action refreshes, have all been fixed.
I certainly understand the fact that Failbetter Games is working on many (very exciting) projects at the same time, with a very limited staff. I do however believe that Fallen London is their "premium product", and therefore should receive the lion's share of attention - especially when things are not going as smooth as they should. The three issues I mentioned are only slightly annoying when viewed on their own, but taken together significantly reduce the enjoyment of playing the game. And they're certainly not encouraging people to spend money on it. So, with the friendliest of nods, and a slight nudge on the shoulder, I'll say "Do something!"

Oh, it's pretty clear why... because it wasn't broken before, it made more sense not to hide information from us, and it's a design choice to get more people staring at the 'buy fate page' at the cost of annoying people who don't want to buy fate at the moment but just want to see what their options are for a card.
If that is indeed the reason why, I think it is pretty uncivilized for it to apply to the exceptional friends (who are promised an "advert-free" game) as well.
