Pardon the revival of this particular discussion, but I felt it better than creating a new thread.

Is there any place I can get my own boney fingers clasped around a set of these gems without becoming a PoSI or paying fate to go shroom-hopping? (For reference as to my talents, I have a watchful of 80 or so, dangerous and persuasive of 50, and 35 or so shadowy)

Mahogany Hall. It'll take a while, but it's a reliable source. Sans that get a friend to send you some with the Lofty Square option.

I seem to already have two parcels delivered to my doorstep from generous Neathgoers. I'll be quite happy to have this lapidary out of my hair.

Another source is a rare opportunity card, 'A commotion above!', that can be drawn in one's lodgings with Watchful 25 or higher; it gives 4 Venom-Rubies. It seems to have only been added this year.

Just where does this fate locked shroom-hopping occur? And what level do I need to be to reasonably have a chance at a ruby and not waste fate?

I'm very far from a person of some importance, and even Mahogany Hall is out of my reach (I've never seen the op card to go there for the day). But while I normally don't mind waiting, the Lapidary's card seems to come up quite often and I have to discard it for more reasonable opportunities.

I'm afraid shroom-hopping in its fullness costs some fate to attend. Your best bet would probably be the lodgings card that person above mentioned, or have someone giving them to you.

Participating in the race is an opportunity (card) that appears randomly and will cost you 3 fate. It is recommended, and I agree, to have at least two skills of at least 40 to maximize your enjoyment. (I also recommend one of them be dangerous and that you have a small supply of Tincture of Vigour).

I greatly enjoy meeting delicious new friends and participating in deliciously exciting new adventures! Please feel free to drop a card to meet for dinner, exchange favors, give an interview, or any other activity that comes to mind. I DO particpate in exchanges requiring Fate, BUT you must contact me first; twitter, facebook, or here on the forums via PM.

Note: I am currently exchanging parcels with a large number of dear friends and my parcel opportunities are rare. I am always willing to exchange but your rate of return may be rather slow. To find others to exchange with I recommend the Starveling list.
