The speculations of a AAA Fallen London RPG are probably wrong.
But if they're right, I might die

Y'know, a Fallen London-style Bioshock game would be pretty cool.

Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?
"No!" says the hooded man, "it belongs to the machinations of industry." "No!" says the man with yellow eyes, "it belongs to the endless fires." "No!" says the man in Veilgarden, "it belongs to all of us." edited by Playersideblog on 4/4/2014

Slowcake told me... "Son... you're special. You were born to do notable things." And you know what? He was right. It wasn't impossible to build Fallen London in the skull of a dead god. It was impossible to build it anywhere else. edited by mblamar on 4/4/2014 edited by mblamar on 4/4/2014

I'm gonna guess that Failbetter's doing the fiction for a steampunk setting FPS, possibly in the Fallen London setting but probably something independent but similar (just to keep the licensing and copyright issues simpler). It's a natural genre for Bioware to expand into but one that's surprisingly difficult to write well.

That said, I'm fine with pretty much anything Failbetter makes with Bioware. A Mass Effect game sounds awesome as well.
I would give anything to walk the streets of Fallen London and interact with it using a character all my own. I'd second this.

i usually don't associate mass effect fanboys with maturity though. they tend to be the same idiots who post the most shallow comments on let's play videos of earlier fallout games... just because they're not real 3D AND IN HD GRAPHIX!!!

How many RPGs are there with a core mechanic that doesn't revolve around combat?

Yeah, but that's TBT. I was referring to VRPGs, which was more obvious in context.

^don't get what kind of context you're referring to. you mentioned mass effect as an example. that's mostly played by fanboys of shooter games. the combat system is more 1st-person shooter than rpg. or rather a shooter game with minimum rpg elements slapped on it. and the plot progression is very much linear ,with cosmetic decisions that are of little consequence.
